Not even two weeks since the last day of school, and we’re already missing Commonwealth sports…
Whether it's a crisp fall evening watching soccer under the lights, the excited echoes of shouts over the volleyball court all winter, or a sunny spring afternoon on the Commons playing Ultimate Frisbee, Commonwealth sports delight us every season (especially when accompanied by charming commentary by SCREAM Club).
Here, Director of Athletics and Wellness Jackson Elliott recaps of another banner year of team sport commitments and accomplishments: https://bit.ly/4vQMYHu

With graduation behind us, we’re reminiscing about last month’s seaside spring Hancock adventures.
Salty ocean air greeted us as we arrived at camp for a few days of fun and relaxation. A spot of morning rain couldn’t get in the way of much-anticipated activities like archery, climbing, boating, and volleyball, while others enjoyed board games, books, and crafts inside the dining hall.
From cooking meals to dancing with friends to putting on a talent show to remember, our days at camp were a testament to the joys of being together in community.
Let the countdown to fall Hancock begin…

On Saturday, May 16, seniors, juniors, and their guests gathered at the Colonnade Hotel for an enchanting garden-party prom. Against a backdrop of lush floral decor (handmade by student volunteers!), attendees arrived dressed to impress for an evening of revelry with friends, dining on a delicious bao bun bar, and, of course, dancing.
Many thanks to Ms. Toomey, Ms. Poynter, and the Prom Committee for organizing a spectacular evening—and to Ryan '28 and Vikram '28 for capturing it!

A passionate student of ceramics since their earliest days at Commonwealth, Koki ’26 melded their love of the artform with their heritage to create a fifteen-month Senior Capstone project exploring Indian ceramics, a journey they reflected on during a school-wide presentation earlier this week. Under the guidance of ceramics teacher Ms. Toomey, Koki undertook new technical challenges as they strove to create larger and more structurally complex pottery than they had previously tackled in the classroom, while also designing and experimenting with new forms of decoration. The result: several beautifully sculpted and decorated kumbas, as well as a number of smaller pieces like mugs and diyas.
Kudos to Koki for completing this feat of a project, and thanks to Ms. Toomey for her support and guidance!

From vivid self-portraits to striking photographs to exquisitely detailed ceramics, delights for the senses abounded last week at our annual Art Show, where we spent an evening reveling in the works of our art students.
Afterwards, we were treated to thoughtful (and frequently hilarious) reflections from four seniors on their time at Commonwealth, reminding us to embrace failure, find the humor in each situation, and close read everything we can.
Our deepest thanks to our art teachers—Caleb Colpitts, Derin Korman, and Kyla Toomey—for their work last week and throughout the year.
