Addressing her classmates at graduation, senior Safiyyah captured this energy:

“Many people judge a book by its cover. Our stories often go unread because the 'cover' we’re given doesn’t look super impressive to the world…

Dartmouth College, Northwestern University, Pomona College, Northeastern University, and the EPUT Electrician Program at Bunker Hill Community College opened our books and looked past our covers, into who we truly are, and they found chapters filled with excellence, brilliance, and ambition.

Our backgrounds, our experiences and who we are are gifts, and taking a chance on us is the best choice they could ever make.”

Main character energy in D.C.!

Last week, our 11th graders visited the nation's capital to explore history, culture, and future possibilities at every stop. From the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture to the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution and the National Portrait Gallery, students connected classroom learning to real-world experiences.

They also got a glimpse of college life at The George Washington University and Howard University, imagining what their next chapter could look like.

And yes, between the museums, monuments, and college tours, there was plenty of time for TikTok trends and photo ops.

One group proudly repped a Colombian poncho as a symbol that immigrants belong in D.C.—and everywhere decisions about our future are being made. ️💛💙

Our 7th graders had a blast at the STEM Expo held at Logan Airport! They learned a lot about STEM careers, got to explore different planes, and left with a TON of goodies!!!
