Reign & Root Academy (tots + pre-K) is a small, home-based, nature-connected program where children are known, supported, and never rushed.

Neurodiversity-affirming and family-centered.

Little hands, big responsibility! One of our learners gave our large garden bed some love today. Now we wait (and watch 👀) for those first signs of growth. There’s something special about teaching patience, care, and wonder—one watering can at a time. 🌿

🌿 ONE FALL 2026 SPOT REMAINS 🌿

People often ask me why I created Reign & Root Academy.

The answer isn’t found in a business plan.

It’s found in four little boys who changed my life.

As a mom of four, neurodivergent children, I’ve spent years sitting in meetings, advocating, researching, asking questions, celebrating victories, and navigating challenges that many families know all too well.

What I learned along the way is simple:

Traditional school works beautifully for many children.

But it doesn’t work for every child.

Some children need more movement.
Some need more creativity.
Some need more flexibility.
Some need more understanding.
Some need adults who see their strengths before their struggles.

And some families are simply looking for a place where their child doesn’t have to fit into a box.

That’s why Reign & Root exists.

Not because I thought the world needed another school.

But because I knew there were families searching for something different—the kind of environment where relationships matter, where children are known deeply, where learning is personalized, and where character, curiosity, faith, and growth are nurtured right alongside academics.

Every part of this program was built from lived experience as both an educator and a mom.

The sensory-friendly spaces.
The flexible learning approach.
The emphasis on strengths.
The focus on emotional well-being.
The commitment to seeing the whole child.

This isn’t just what I do.

It’s what I’ve lived.

This morning, I had the privilege of meeting another wonderful family during a tour. Watching parents light up as they realize there really are educational options that honor who their child is never gets old.

And with that tour, we now have just ONE remaining Fall 2026 enrollment spot.

No pressure. No urgency tactics.

Just gratitude.

Gratitude that families trust us with what matters most.

And gratitude that God continues to bring the right families at the right time.

🌿 ONE FALL 2026 SPOT REMAINS 🌿

This morning, we had a tour with an AMAZING family.

Watching families walk through our space, ask thoughtful questions, connect with our philosophy, and truly understand what we’re building at Reign & Root Academy is always such a gift.

With that tour, we are officially down to ONE remaining Fall 2026 enrollment spot.

And truthfully? I’m not looking for just any family. I’m looking for the right family.

Reign & Root Academy is a licensed, EEC-regulated neuroinclusive play school in Roslindale serving children ages 18 months through 4 years old.

We are intentionally small because children deserve to be known—not managed.

At Reign & Root, your child will:

✦ Learn through nature, outdoor exploration, sensory experiences, gardening, and meaningful play every single day

✦ Spend up to 3 hours outdoors daily (and often more!)

✦ See themselves reflected in the curriculum through African-centered learning, Black history, diverse literature, and culturally affirming experiences

✦ Build early literacy, math, social-emotional, executive functioning, and school readiness skills through developmentally appropriate practices—not worksheets and pressure

✦ Be supported by a program designed with neurodiversity in mind, where differences are understood, respected, and celebrated

✦ Be loved, guided, and taught through connection—not shame, punishment, or fear-based discipline

Our learners help care for four raised garden beds, a 7-foot garden bed, and multiple vertical planters, developing a relationship with nature and learning environmental stewardship through hands-on experiences.

Led by Dr. Danielle Eddins, a doctorate-level educator, autism specialist, researcher, advocate, and founder, Reign & Root offers families something rare: over 13 years of professional experience in early childhood and special education, along with a lifetime of working with and mentoring young children since the age of 14.

We follow the Boston Public Schools calendar and offer:

🌱 Full-Time Enrollment
🌱 Part-Time Enrollment
🌱 Half-Day Options

Families are often surprised by how affordable Reign & Root is compared to larger programs when they consider the individualized attention, specialized expertise, small-group environment, enrichment experiences, and intentionally designed curriculum their children receive.

Because here’s the truth:

We are not a traditional daycare.

Reign & Root was built using a microschool model—combining the quality and intentionality of a private school with the warmth, flexibility, and relationship-centered values many families seek from homeschooling.

Every day includes rotating enrichments, outdoor learning, project-based experiences, cultural exploration, and opportunities for children to learn at their own pace while being deeply known and deeply loved.

And we’re just getting started. 🌱

(Stay tuned for future announcements about our nonprofit independent school expansion.)

If you’ve been searching for a place where your child can be rooted in who they are while growing into who they’re becoming, this may be your sign.

🏴‍☠️🌊 Treasure Island Adventures Await!

Sometimes the best learning materials aren’t found in a catalog—they’re made with a pool noodle, a few Q-tips, a printer, and a little creativity! 😊

For our Treasure Island theme, I created floating island markers for our water table using pool noodles, Q-tips, and flags representing real islands from around the world.

As our explorers sail the seas tomorrow, they’ll discover islands such as Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Réunion, and São Tomé & Príncipe.

While they’re playing, they’ll also be:
⚓ Building vocabulary
🌍 Exploring geography and world cultures
💧 Strengthening fine motor skills
🧠 Developing problem-solving skills
🫱🏽‍🫲🏿 Practicing social interaction and cooperative play
🏴‍☠️ Using their imaginations through dramatic play

At Reign & Root Academy, we believe children learn best when they can touch, explore, create, question, and wonder. What may look like “just play” is actually rich, meaningful learning taking place through hands-on experiences.

Tomorrow, our little pirates set sail! 🌊🦜🗺️

☀️ Good Morning & Happy Monday, Reign & Root Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is feeling refreshed for a brand-new week.

As we begin June, we're setting sail on our new monthly theme:

🏝️ Treasure Island! Throughout the month, our learners will explore islands, maps, discovery, culture, nature, and the treasures that make each of us unique.

💎 Character Trait of the Month: Determination

This week's African proverb reminds us:
"Little by little, a little becomes a lot"

Success doesn't happen all at once. Whether you're learning a new skill, growing a business, strengthening your family, or helping a child reach a goal, every small step matters.
My encouragement for you today: Keep showing up. Keep planting seeds. Keep moving forward. Growth is happening, even when you can't see it yet.
Now tell me...

☕ Are you excited it's Monday?

😴 Or was the weekend way too short?

Drop your answer below! ⬇️

What if “destructive” isn’t the whole story?

One of the most common concerns adults have about young children is:

“Why do they keep ripping, dumping, breaking, pulling apart, knocking over, or taking things apart?”

Sometimes our first instinct is to assume a child is being defiant, impulsive, careless, or “too much.”

But from a developmental perspective, there may be another question worth asking:

✨ What is this child trying to learn?

Many young children are not attempting to destroy. They are exploring.

When a child dumps the toy bin, they may be studying cause and effect.

When they pull apart a flower, they may be investigating how it is put together.

When they knock down a block tower, they may be testing gravity, balance, and their own ability to impact the world around them.

When they tear paper, snap sticks, crush leaves, or dismantle a creation, they may be seeking sensory feedback, satisfying curiosity, or trying to understand how things work.

Adults often see the mess.

Children often see the experiment.

🧠 Developmentally, young children learn through hands-on investigation. They are natural scientists, engineers, artists, and problem-solvers. Their brains are wired to explore first and understand later.

Does this mean every behavior should be allowed? Of course not.

Children still need guidance, boundaries, and opportunities to learn stewardship, responsibility, and respect for people, materials, and living things.

But understanding the why behind a behavior allows us to teach rather than simply punish.

And here’s something important:

Not every child who appears “destructive” has ADHD.

Not every child who takes things apart is being defiant.

Not every child who seeks intense sensory experiences is displaying a disorder.

Sometimes it is sensory seeking.
Sometimes it is impulsivity.
Sometimes it is neurodivergence.

And sometimes…

It is simply curiosity.

At Reign & Root Academy, we believe in looking beyond the behavior to understand the child. Neuroinclusive environments recognize that children learn, play, explore, communicate, and regulate in different ways.

When we shift from asking:
❌ “What’s wrong with this child?”

to asking:
✅ “What is this child communicating, seeking, learning, or needing?”

everything changes.

Because children grow best when they are understood, not just managed.

Quick parent question:

How does your child feel about dirt? 🪴🤎

Do they jump right in and start digging, scooping, and exploring?

Or are they more of a “keep my hands clean” kind of kid?

Here’s something I love about dirt play: what looks like simple fun is often packed with learning. Children are building creativity, problem-solving skills, hand strength, sensory awareness, and even early science concepts while they dig and explore.

Sometimes the things adults see as “messy” are the very things children learn the most from.

Tell me below: Does your child LOVE dirt or avoid it at all costs? 👇🏽

🌿✨ BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING OUTSIDE AT REIGN & ROOT! ✨🌿

Y’all… I am SO excited! 😍

My bags of soil just arrived, and both sets of our new raised garden beds are officially out for delivery! 🚚🌱 I ordered TWO of each style, plus we have a vertical planter that still needs to be installed.

One of my favorite goals for our outdoor learning space is adding more real-life, neighborhood-inspired elements that help children connect with the world around them. Gardens are such a beautiful way to encourage curiosity, responsibility, sensory exploration, healthy eating, science learning, and wonder. 🌻🐝🍅

And the part I’m probably most excited about…

🍕🌿 Our EDIBLE GARDEN! 🌿🍕

(Yes, I almost called it an “edible pizza garden” because that’s exactly where my brain is. 😂)

I’m dreaming of growing ingredients that children can recognize and connect to real foods—things like tomatoes, basil, peppers, herbs, and more. Imagine the excitement of harvesting ingredients we’ve cared for ourselves!

We also have rocks waiting to be transformed with our acrylic paint markers, creating another hands-on opportunity for creativity and outdoor exploration. 🎨🪨

Now I need your help…

👇🏽 What should we plant in our edible garden?

What are your favorite child-friendly vegetables, herbs, fruits, or flowers to grow? Bonus points if they’re easy, fun, and can survive the enthusiasm of toddlers and preschoolers. 😂🌱

I can’t wait to share the transformation of our outdoor classroom with all of you. This little dream is slowly becoming reality, one garden bed at a time. 💚

🌿✨ Childhood Should Feel Like This ✨🌿

This morning, our friends ran through the grass, dug in the dirt with jumbo shovels, chased bubbles, and explored the world around them with curiosity and joy.

There were no worksheets.
No pressure.
No rush.

Just children being children.

At , we believe learning happens everywhere—in movement, in play, in conversation, in creativity, and in nature. Whether we’re watching a giant rainbow slinky ripple across the yard, painting masterpieces in the afternoon, or sharing a meal together, every moment is an opportunity for growth.

🌱 Small group setting
🌱 Relationship-centered care
🌱 Nature-inspired exploration
🌱 Neuroinclusive environment
🌱 Play-based learning with purpose
🌱 Serving children ages 18 months–4 years

Our goal isn’t simply to prepare children for school.

Our goal is to help children build confidence, curiosity, independence, and a love of learning that will serve them for years to come.

Because roots grow deep when children are nurtured, known, and given room to thrive. 💚
