On this Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we give thanks for the love that lies at the center of every priestly vocation.
The Heart of Jesus reveals the heart of the priesthood: a life given in service, rooted in prayer, and shaped by charity. It is this Heart that seminarians seek to know more deeply throughout their years of formation at Saint John’s Seminary.
As we celebrate this feast, may we all grow in our friendship with Christ and pray for those whom He is calling to serve His Church as priests.

For nearly four decades, Msgr. Stephen Salocks, '80 has dedicated his priesthood to the formation of future priests, shaping generations of seminarians through his teaching, leadership, pastoral care, and faithful witness to Jesus Christ.
This tribute celebrates his retirement as Rector of Saint John’s Seminary and reflects on a theme that has defined his life and ministry: “I do all this for the sake of the Gospel.”
His steadfast commitment to priestly formation has strengthened countless vocations and inspired those entrusted to his care to serve Christ and His Church with generosity and conviction.
While this occasion marks the conclusion of his ministry as Rector, Msgr. Salocks will remain an important part of the Saint John’s Seminary community as he returns to the classroom, continuing the work of priestly formation that has been at the heart of his vocation.
The Saint John’s Seminary community gives thanks to Almighty God for Msgr. Salocks’ faithful service and asks your prayers for him, for our seminarians, and for the continued mission of Saint John’s Seminary.
