Fatherhood comes in many forms, and in social work, we see the vital role that supportive, present fathers and father figures play in the stability of families. We witness how positive male involvement can transform the development and emotional well-being of children.
Today, we honor the fathers who are doing the daily work, the father figures providing mentorship, and the social workers who support men in navigating the challenges of parenthood. Whether you are biological, adoptive, or a mentor, your presence makes a difference.

Social work is about community care and supporting the systems that keep people healthy and stable.
Today is a reminder of how a simple, individual action can have a massive impact on the lives of others. A single donation can support patients in emergency rooms, during surgeries, or those managing chronic illnesses.
If you are able, Itโs a practical way to support the healthcare systems our clients rely on every single day.

Most of us are often overwhelmed by heavy caseloads and the constant demand for administrative documentation. While the idea of Artificial Intelligence can feel intimidating, it has the potential to act as a "force multiplier" that restores your time for direct client interaction.

Sharing a very personal milestone today!
My daughter, Zuri Hakim, is graduating from high school this month, and she is earning her AA degree at the same time. ๐
She recently announced she will be attending Delaware State University to follow in my footsteps and become a social worker. Seeing her choose this path of service and advocacy is a full-circle moment for our family that makes all the long hours worth it.

The 2026 NASW National Conference is happening in Washington, D.C. this year. We will gather to share information, discuss policy, and strengthen the profession as a whole.
Iโm considering attending because these spaces are invaluable for connecting with colleagues and staying updated on the latest evidence-based practices. If you are looking for professional growth and a chance to see the bigger picture of social work, this is a great opportunity. Itโs a chance to recharge your passion for the work alongside others who truly understand it.

One of the biggest hurdles on the licensing exam is distinguishing between what you should do "first" versus what is the "best" response.
The exam often provides four ethically sound options, but only one is the correct priority for that specific moment. When you encounter these questions, ask yourself if the client is in immediate danger or if there is a legal mandate that overrides clinical exploration.
If the scenario doesn't involve a crisis, look for the action that builds the therapeutic alliance or gathers more information before moving into an intervention. Mastering this hierarchy of priorities is often the difference between a passing score and a near-miss. Developing this "triage" mindset allows you to navigate complex vignettes without getting distracted by options that are good, but poorly timed.

Dignity and a person's worth are core values of social work, and that includes the right to live authentically without fear of judgment or discrimination.
During Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to advocacy and inclusive practice. Whether you are studying for your exam or currently in the field, your role is to create spaces where every individual feels seen, respected, and safe. Affirmation is a powerful intervention that can

Children depend on the systems and adults around them to provide safety, stability, and a voice.
In social work, our role is often to navigate those systems to ensure a child's well-being is the priority, regardless of how complex the family or legal situation becomes. Building a rapport with a child requires patience and a genuine commitment to seeing the world from their perspective.
On World Childrenโs Day, we recognize the resilience of the children you support and the importance of the advocacy you provide every day.

Feeling stuck while studying usually has less to do with your ability and more to do with your approach, especially when your routine relies on passive methods like highlighting or rereading, which can create the illusion of progress without building real understanding.
The exam requires you to think through scenarios, apply concepts, and make decisions based on ethics and best practice, so your study method needs to match that level of thinking instead of focusing only on memorization.
One way to shift your approach is by using practice questions with intention, where you slow down and break apart each rationale, paying close attention to why the correct answer works and why the others do not. This helps you recognize patterns in how questions are structured and how the exam expects you to prioritize information.
You can also take it a step further by explaining your reasoning out loud or writing it in your own words, because this strengthens recall and helps you catch gaps in your understanding before test day. Over time, this builds confidence and makes it easier to approach unfamiliar questions without second-guessing yourself.
When you study this way, you move beyond memorizing content and start thinking like the exam, which is what
