We had another incredible Arch Day at Berkeley Carroll!!

Our Lower School community celebrated each student as they passed through the BC arch to symbolize the transition to a new grade level. Head of School Lisa Yvette Waller and Lower School Director Kelly Grimmett gave remarks reflecting on the year, and students sang festive songs, including the BC favorite “Today is Arch Day!”

Grade 4 students Fiona N. ‘34, Lucas C. ‘34, and Eleanor M. ‘34 represented their classes by giving wonderful speeches reflecting on their time in the Lower School. Fourth-grade students and families then embarked on our second-ever parade from Lower School over to Lincoln Place, as they were officially welcomed to Middle School!

Congratulations to all of the Lower School students, educators, and families for such a fantastic year, and a special congratulations to our fourth graders as they begin a new chapter!

Students were grooving at our annual MS/US Spring Dance Concert last week! This year’s theme, “Inspiration,” had dancers exploring who and what inspires them to make and create, covering topics such as nature, poetry, friendship, anger, and loss. There were 72 dancers from the Middle and Upper School, including eight student choreographers, and three adult choreographers, including Performing Arts Department Chair and Middle and Upper School Dance Teacher Penelope McCourty, Chair of the Upper School History Department Amber Thomas, and guest Amanda Carnesecchi.

Congratulations to our talented dancers and everyone involved for putting together this spectacular show!

What a day! This past Saturday, over 400 members of our community gathered for UnityFest, a vibrant celebration of culture, connection, and the spirit of Berkeley Carroll! This year’s event featured a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration and was organized by the Parent Association’s Mosaic and AAPI groups in partnership with the Office of Equity and Inclusion.

Between experiencing performances including a traditional lion dance, K-Pop, African dance, drumming, yoga, and Double Dutch, participating in games and crafts, and indulging in delicious food from across the globe, we came together to celebrate each other, community, culture, and heritage.

Some of our youngest artists have been busy getting creative! PreK students recently wrapped up a joyful (and delightfully messy!) printmaking unit, creating vibrant self-portraits. Through color, texture, and pattern, students explored new techniques while expressing what makes each of them unique. Don’t miss a peek at their imaginative process and see these artists in action!
