BROOKLYN BOATWORKS helps young people develop life skills through the building and use of small boat

Photos from Brooklyn Boatworks's post 06/19/2026

Earlier this month, nearly 200 of our students finally sailed on their handcrafted boats during our annual Boat Launch - the culmination of a year spent building and learning together. Nervous smiles soon gave way to beaming grins as our junior boat-builders took in the exhilarating scenery and cheered each other on. When young people are given the tools, guidance, and confidence to build something meaningful, there is no limit to where they can go!

Brooklyn Boatworks was featured in the New York Times yesterday thanks to the amazing Matthew Rhys - who was interviewed for a special profile during the first day of our Boat Launch. Check out the story in our Instagram bio! We’re so grateful to Matthew for bringing his incredible energy to our Launch, getting our students even more excited and taking some of them out for a spin on the water!

Corporate needs you to find the difference between Brooklyn Boatworks and the New York Knicks. 🕵️📐🏀

Spoiler alert: They’re the same picture. Same iconic orange and blue, same elite teamwork, and we both know exactly how to build a winning roster.

Our boats are works of art, just like KAT’s layups or Brunson’s 3’s 🖌️🎨🏀. Our program is built to win, just like the .

CHAMPIONS OF THE WATERFRONT! 🏆⛵️🎉
Our incredible students took home 1st place at the
2026 Red Hook Regatta this past weekend!

Our custom built boats, Blinky (winner) and Pinky, didn’t just float, they dominated the harbor course, proving that when you give NYC youth the right tools 🛠️, engineering skills, and mentorship they can achieve anything!

This victory isn’t about a trophy 🏆 (but that’s nice too
😉). It’s the culmination of MONTHS of hard work, hands-on STEM education, teamwork, and grit in our workshop. As actor Matthew Rhys recently said on the TODAY show, there is something truly MAGICAL happening at Brooklyn Boatworks!🪄
