World Day Against Child Labor 2026

On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labor, Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) proudly observed this important day across our project locations, joining the global call to protect every child's right to a safe, healthy, and educated childhood.

Through awareness sessions, discussions, and interactive activities, children, parents, teachers, and community members came together to reaffirm that childhood is for learning, dreaming, and growing—not for labor.

Despite significant progress, millions of children around the world continue to be engaged in child labor, often at the expense of their education, health, and future opportunities. At DCI, we remain committed to addressing the root causes of child labor through education, child sponsorship, family empowerment, healthcare, and community awareness initiatives.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our staff, volunteers, teachers, supporters, and community leaders who work tirelessly to create environments where children can thrive with dignity and hope.

Together, let us continue our efforts to build a world where every child is free to learn, play, and realize their full potential.

Say NO to Child Labor. Say YES to Education, Protection, and Opportunity for Every Child.

A science quiz competition was organized in the Hizla govt. primary school in Keraniganj, near Dhaka, for students of classes 3, 4, and 5. This regular initiative aims to increase students’ interest in science and develop scientific thinking from an early age.

A total of 72 students participated after a preliminary selection round. Their enthusiasm and active involvement were truly inspiring. Fifteen top scorers received special prizes, while all other participants were also awarded in recognition of their effort.

A free eye camp was organized to serve the underprivileged population of Ghorashal, a remote union in Narsingdi district where access to specialized medical services is limited. With full financial backing from Faraaz Hossain Foundation, we were able to deliver critical eye care services directly to the community.

A medical team (ophthalmologist, optometrist, optician and officials) led by Dr. Farzana Sahin from Dhaka Progressive Lions Eye Hospital, Narsingdi provided eye treatment services at the camp. The medical team also brought advanced equipment with them to effectively examine patients. The doctors also advised patients on how to take care of their eyes and prevent problems.

More than 400 underprivileged children and adults received free eye treatment during the camp. The clinical outcomes were as follows:
• 47 patients were diagnosed with cataracts
• 16 patients were diagnosed with Dacryostenosis (Blocked Tear Duct)
• 127 patients with refractive errors
• 13 patients received prescription eyeglasses
• 265 patients were provided with medications
• Patients requiring combined power eyeglasses were referred to the Mia Bari Charity Medical Center in Ghorashal, Palash, Narsingdi, where they received their glasses on May 12, 2026.
• The surgery patients requiring Cataract and dacryocystectomy (DCT) were transported to the Dhaka Progressive Lions Eye Hospital, Narsingdi where they underwent further examination and surgery.
