LAST DAY TO APPLY to be a 2025 Discover Prehealth FPOP Peer Counselor!

Discover Prehealth First year Pre-Orientation Program (DPH FPOP) is an experience organized by MIT Prehealth Advising to provide incoming first years with an insider’s perspective on health professions and related opportunities and resources at MIT. Peer Counselors play an important role in this experience as they will be involved in facilitating activities, guiding discussions, and providing support to prehealth advising staff during the week of FPOP.

DPH FPOP 2025 will run from Tuesday, August 19th through Saturday, August 23rd. Peer counselors will also be required to attend 4 training sessions: 1) Tuesday, April 29, 2025 (tentative training date; required training for all FPOP peer counselors with OFY); 2) Late April or early May 2025 (date/time TBD following poll; virtual); 2) Monday, August 18th, 2025 from 12pm - 2pm (in person); 3) Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 from 10pm - 12pm (in person).

Peer Counselors will receive a $200 stipend for their work. In addition, most meals will be provided during FPOP and if you will be living on campus in Fall 2025, you may move back to campus early.

We will respond to all applicants with decisions by Wednesday, March 26th. We welcome applicants who have served as counselors previously and would like to serve again.

Interested in medical interpreting? Fluent in Spanish or Chinese? Apply by Dec. 4 for this 4-week intensive IAP medical interpreting course that will train you to become a qualified medical interpreter and prepare you for national certification exams.

The application for the 2025 IAP Medical Interpreting Course is now open and closes on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

*Offered by CAPD’s Prehealth Advising Office. Class taught and facilitated by UMass Chan Medical School. The Office of the Vice Chancellor has subsidized the $950 cost per participant to make the class free for the MIT community.
