Providing Homeschool Classes in Cape Coral and Southwest Florida |
Created by a homeschool family, for homeschool families

Homeschool Extras provides fun, educational, and social enrichment classes where homeschool students can learn, create, build, and explore together.

Created by a homeschool family, for homeschool families.

Our weekly classes are offered in 8-week sessions, giving students time to build skills, complete meaningful projects, and develop lasting friendships. This structure allows learning and projects to build from week to week rather than ending after a single class. Families can choose individual classes or take advantage of our full-day enrichment options.

Whether students are exploring STEM, creating art, learning music, coding games, building engineering projects, or participating in hands-on science activities, our goal is to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

We believe learning should be hands-on.

We believe kids learn best when they are actively creating, building, experimenting, and exploring.

We believe friendships and community are an important part of the homeschool journey.

Most importantly, we love bringing homeschool families together and creating a place where students can grow alongside other homeschool families who value learning, community, and meaningful connections.

Our LEGO Minecraft Biomes project is entering its final week!

The students have been working on these biomes for three weeks now, and there has been a lot of progress. There are still quite a few hours of building left, but it's really starting to come together. The massive six-chunk section on the left may have grown a little beyond the original plan ๐Ÿ˜„, but the landscape is taking shape, and the cave looks especially good. We spent a few extra hours working on the cave this past weekend to help bring the vision to life.

A few students from our All-Access Labs have hinted that they might like to help build a chunk, and our kids will likely put in some extra building time this weekend as well. With a little teamwork, we might just finish everything by the end of next week!

One thing we've enjoyed watching is the problem-solving that this project has required. The students have had to plan, adapt, rethink ideas, work through frustrations, and, as they now like to say, "use their big brains." Along the way, they've also had a lot of funโ€”which is often where some of the best learning happens.

We can't wait to see the finished world next week! ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿงฑโ›๏ธ

A few pictures from yesterday's classes.

Our Choir class had a few out sick, but the others had fun with the handbells.

Our Minecraft Biomes are coming together. The massive mountain is taking some additional time to construct, but the cave looks pretty cool! I'll add another post just for that.

We work on all kinds of projects and play games in our All-Access Lab.

The younger group had a blast constructing buildings and bridges in Build It, and the older kids continued to work on their minigolf holes.

Enjoy!

We had an awesome first half of our Summer Session with our homeschool families! As we start the second half, enjoy these pictures from yesterday to see some of the fun, learning, and friendships that have been growing each week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We completed two weeks of our Summer Session today! It has been such a blessing spending time with a great group of homeschool families each week. One of our favorite parts of Homeschool Extras is seeing students build friendships while learning alongside other homeschool families who share a similar approach to education and community.

Today in Summer Crafts, the students finished their Mancala games and painted rock cacti. In Kitchen Science, we explored the science of gelatin and learned what gives it its unique properties. In STEM, we continued working on our automated ball runs, and the kids made some great progress on their designs today!

We wrapped up the day with All-Access Lab. One of the highlights was watching a 5-year-old teach another 5-year-old how to play chess. Moments like that remind us that learning often happens just as much from each other as it does from the activities themselves. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Summer can be a great time to strengthen math fact fluency without spending hours on worksheets.

Our kids have been working through the Learning Wrap-Ups *10 Days to Mastery* books for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The hands-on Wrap-Ups allow students to practice their math facts and immediately check their own work, making it easy for them to work independently.

If you're looking for something educational to add to your summer routine, these might be worth checking out. They are available through the Step Up for Students Marketplace and on Amazon.

What are some of your favorite educational resources for summer learning?

Another great day at Homeschool Extras! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our LEGO Minecraft Biomes classes are really starting to come together. The students have been making great progress on their builds, and a few of our younger builders have been creating their own unique projects as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

In Spanish class, the kids had a blast playing Loterรญa (Mexican Bingo), which is always a fun way to practice vocabulary while having fun with friends.

During All-Access Lab, students stayed busy with all kinds of activities. Some built castles out of boxes, others worked on Perler Bead creations, played games, or examined bugs under the microscopes.

We wrapped up the day with Build It! The younger students designed and built kites, while the older students continued working on their mini-golf holes and bringing their creative ideas to life.

We love seeing the creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving happening throughout the day! ๐ŸŽ‰

Happy Monday! โ˜€๏ธ

Our All About Florida students explored some of Florida's tourism attractions using their Florida Passport booklets. We also talked about Florida's state parks and other interesting places to visit around the state. The students then put their engineering skills to work by building blow rockets from straws and constructing forts with LEGO bricks.

In Book Club, the kids had a great time helping care for some injured stuffed animals as part of their activities.

Our STEM students continued designing, building, and testing their battle bots, with a few robots making their first appearances in the arena!

We finished the day with American flag-themed art projects and continued adding new features to our Fireworks application in Scratch Coding. It's always exciting to see the students apply programming concepts to create something fun and interactive.

Another great day of learning, creating, building, and exploring at Homeschool Extras! ๐Ÿ˜Š

What a great first Thursday of our Summer Session! โ˜€๏ธ

The day started with Summer Crafts, where students began painting their projects, and STEM, where they started building automated ball runs.

In Kitchen Science, we got to see yeast in action, turned cream into butter, and enjoyed some delicious sourdough bread. ๐Ÿž

After lunch... WE WENT OUTSIDE!!! ๐Ÿ˜„

What amazing weather we've had the past few days here in Southwest Florida! The kids enjoyed some outdoor time before finishing the day in our All-Access Lab, where students get to explore a variety of activities and try things that may be completely new to them.

We love seeing students learn, create, experiment, and have fun together!

Our Fall Session begins August 10, and registration is now open. Reserve your spots today at www.homeschoolextras.com
