SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING GUIDELINES AND RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
Carmel Clay Schools (“CCS”) embraces social media as another means to communicate with stakeholders and share relevant information about the school corporation. CCS-managed social media accounts are provided for the benefit of the school community and are updates to share achievements of students and staff, as well as school-related news
and other helpful information. CCS-managed social media accounts are not intended to circumvent standard communication channels for sharing personal issues and concerns. CCS administrators assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee monitor all comments posted on CCS social media accounts (“Page Administrators”). The intent of monitoring district social media is not to keep any negative or critical information from being posted, but to protect the privacy and other rights of staff and students. Page Administrators may review any post to check that users follow the below guidelines. We welcome thoughts and comments. However, when participating in a district-managed social media site, users are not permitted to:
1. Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes intellectual property and other protections that prohibit posting material that infringes on the rights of the district or an individual or entity.
2. Use abusive or make inappropriate language or statements, or post inappropriate images or other visual depictions. This includes postings that are threatening, harassing, illegal, obscene, lewd, vulgar, defamatory, libelous, personal attacks, or hostile.
3. Post the phone numbers, email addresses, or other confidential information of students, faculty, staff, or any person other than the user. If the user posts his/her own contact information, he/she should be aware it will be available to the public and subject to possible misuse.
4. Post material that promotes or advertises services or products, except those pre-approved by the district.
5. Post material, language, or images related to a political campaign.
6. Post spam, chain-letter-like communications, or the same comment multiple times.
7. Allow others to use your identity for posting or viewing comments.
8. Post links to other social networking sites that do not adhere to these guidelines.
9. Act as a spokesperson or impersonate a representative of the district.
10. Alter, modify or otherwise change or use any post, comment, or message made by the district that results in a misrepresentation or change in the meaning of the original message.
11. Promote, foster, or perpetrate discrimination based upon a protected class. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive. The mission of CCS Schools is to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. Please be certain that your comments are appropriate for a K-12 environment and people of all ages. Page Administrators reserve the right to:
1. Remove or refuse to post any comments that violate these guidelines at any time.
2. Ban future posts or input from people who repeatedly violate these guidelines including refusing posts from specific email addresses or IP addresses. Users who are found to repeatedly violate the CCS guidelines will be issued a warning. Upon the third warning, users may be blocked from the CCS social media channel. Individuals may be blocked immediately for severely inappropriate posts. Page Administrators will maintain a record of all posts or comments removed for violation of these guidelines. By participating in district-managed social media, the user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless CCS Schools, its affiliates, directors, employees, and successors against any damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, causes of action, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs) arising out of any claim by a third party relating to any material user has posted on the school-sponsored sites.

A few weeks into summer break, and our incredible Carmel Clay Schools elementary teachers are still hard at work to ensure a smooth transition to Google Classroom for our elementary students!
Over the past two weeks, educators gathered at the District Office for specialized professional development. Our goal is to make this digital shift as seamless and stress-free as possible for our elementary students when they head back to school. To do that, our teachers spent their time mastering tools designed to keep the upcoming school year organized, predictable, and impactful. Here’s a look at what they’ve been working on to support our students:
-Creating a Smooth Student Experience: Crafting easy-to-navigate dashboards and clutter-free "Classwork" pages so students can always find exactly what they need without the confusion.
-Elevating Feedback: Exploring the Google Classroom Gradebook, building rubrics for quicker feedback, and utilizing Comment Banks to keep communication clear.
-Connecting with Families: Learning the best ways to utilize the guardian role to keep parents connected and informed every step of the way.
Thank you to our staff for your continuous commitment to excellence. Your dedication ensures our elementary students will be perfectly equipped for success on day one!

Congratulations to seniors Riya Koya and Zaina Khan for winning the Started Up Challenge innovation pitch competition at Butler University this past Friday, June 12th!
Out of 10 incredible teams from all across the state, Riya and Zaina won the competition with “Occlusense,” a brilliant biomedical device designed to assess IV pump alarms and ease the burden on hardworking hospital nurses.
Not only did they secure a provisional patent and partnerships with Ascension nurses and Baxter engineers to improve their product, but they are also walking away with $25,000 in startup seed money and $10,000 each for college tuition!
We are beyond proud of Riya and Zaina and the endless dedication they put into bringing this biomedical innovation to life! Congratulations!

School doors might be closed for the summer, but our Carmel Clay Schools educators are still in session, sharpening their AI skills for the upcoming year!
Last week, our staff leaned into innovation at our "AI Awareness for Teachers" event. Teachers dove into the mechanics of artificial intelligence. They explored tools like Gemini and Google NotebookLM to enhance learning. Our educators also discussed data privacy and ethics to ensure secure, thoughtful decisions in the classroom. We invested in this training for our staff to ensure our teachers are fully prepared to guide students in using these powerful new technologies safely, correctly, and responsibly. We aim to keep classrooms innovative and prepared for the future. We are proud of our staff’s dedication to creating future-ready environments for our students!

School might be out, but our Carmel Clay Schools elementary teachers are still hard at work leveling up their classrooms!
This week, K-5 math educators leaned into professional development with the "Building Thinking Classrooms" framework. Our teachers explored innovative ways to shift from passive learning to active, deep mathematical thinking. They collaborated to implement vertical non-permanent surfaces, use strategic random groupings, and pair them perfectly with our Reveal Math curriculum. We are so incredibly grateful for our staff’s willingness to keep learning and growing, ensuring that our schools remain spaces of high engagement and deep thinking. Thank you for your passion, dedication, and commitment to our students' success!
