π£ Carlynton School District Approves 2026β2027 Budget:
Investing in Students While Maintaining Fiscal Integrity
The Carlynton Board of Education has approved the Districtβs 2026β2027 budget, continuing a long-standing commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars while making strategic investments in our students, schools, and community.
Over the past 25 years, Carlynton has demonstrated a strong record of fiscal responsibility, including 16 years without a millage rate increase and no tax increase in three of the last four years. However, rising inflation, increasing legally mandated costs, and the need to maintain high-quality educational programs and safe learning environments made a millage increase necessary for the 2026β2027 school year.
The approved budget dedicates 94.9% of expenditures to mandated costs, including salaries, benefits, retirement contributions, contracted services, and debt obligations. Only 5.1% of expenditures support non-mandated items such as textbooks, computers, classroom supplies, and instructional resources that directly impact student learning.
The budget also includes investments in:
β
Carnegie Elementary School renovations
β
Enhanced school safety and security measures
β
Additional support for English Language Learners and students with special needs
β
Expanded STEAM and workforce development opportunities
β
New College in the High School courses
β
Facility improvements and energy-efficient upgrades
As Superintendent Dr. John Kreider noted, the budget reflects Carlyntonβs commitment to providing a safe and secure environment, a world-class education, opportunities for student growth, and continued fiscal integrity on behalf of our community.
π· See the attached infographic for additional information about Carlyntonβs 25-year record of fiscal responsibility and the factors driving the 2026β2027 budget.
