So what do you do when you are a first-year team in the Competition, and you need a transition piece to fully test your offshore wind turbine design?
If you're UNC Charlotte College of Engineering , there's only one acceptable answer:
You build it.
Mechanical/Structural Sub-Team Lead Sarah Gibson began work on the transition piece this past Friday on the CNC in the Machine Shop, with the goal of having it completed before the holiday break.
Shout out to Stock Car Steel and Aluminum for being an AWESOME vendor to work with!

Hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since our outreach event at Sadler Elementary! The 5th graders did an AWESOME job, even setting a new record for the number of weights lifted in the wind turbine design competition.
We had a great time working with UNCC 49er Rocketry Club on this unique event, and look forward to more in the coming weeks! Special thanks to UNC Charlotte College of Engineering , EPIC - Energy Production and Infrastructure Center at UNC Charlotte and KidWind for making this event possible.
Oh, and we'll be dropping a highlight reel of the day in a couple of weeks!

One of the great things about is everyone is willing to help in any way they can.
Huge shout-out to John, Cindy, and Cole from the university's ICSP warehouse, as they came through BIG TIME in helping us outfit our lab!

We are fortunate to have professors like Dr. Arun Vishnu Suresh Babu, Dr. Steve Patterson, Dr. Shen-En Chen, and Dr. Saffeer Khan here at as students, and it's even better when they sit in on your Conceptual Design Review!

Sometimes, engineering is equal parts science and creativity.
Like the time you need to get a test tank for your wind turbine for the Competition, and you repurpose a planting trough to do so.
Tarter , feel free to add "also used in engineering research" to the product description of the Round Ultra 46!
This. Right. Here.

Streamlined.
That's the word that comes to mind regarding the processes for Senior Design here at .
This week's lecture centered on the purchasing process that has been built to minimize lead times for all the teams.
