Jimmy Core was an Ardrey Kell Alumni from the graduating class of 2009. Like many of us, Jimmy grew up in South Charlotte and considered it home. While a student here, Jimmy served as the Student Body President, captain of the wrestling team, and 3-time captain of the Lacrosse team. He was even involved with key decisions at Ardrey Kell like choosing our mascot and school colors. Jimmy's peers remember him as an outgoing, likable, extremely involved, and a strong leader. After graduating with academic honors, Jimmy attended Florida State University where he played lacrosse and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Jimmy passed away unexpectedly just 5 days before his 25th birthday. Since then, Jimmy’s family, friends, and colleagues have created the Jimmy CORE Foundation, a nonprofit founded in the spirit of its namesake, committed to providing food, clothing, and shelter for homeless people in Charlotte. We are proud to partner with the Jimmy CORE Foundation to help honor the legacy of our fellow Knight. We will be selling the Jimmy CORE Foundation merchandise starting through the week of December 9th during lunch leading up to the home basketball game against South Meck on December 13th. The theme of the basketball game will be the “Jimmy Core Foundation.” At halftime of the game, a senior student-athlete will be presented with the 3rd annual Jimmy Core award for continuing Jimmy’s legacy of kindness and compassion towards everyone. Nominees for the award will be selected by AK faculty and the winner chosen by the board of the Jimmy Core Foundation. Help us keep Jimmy's legacy alive by purchasing merchandise during lunches this week and attending the home basketball game against South Meck on December 13th.
