Camp Gryphon has been full of adventure these past two weeks. From daily field trips to creative hands-on learning, our campers have been busy exploring, trying new things, and making sweet new friendships along the way.
We love seeing their curiosity, confidence, and joy grow each day! We are looking forward to many more fun-filled weeks ahead.
Palisades Episcopal School
Palisades Episcopal School offers an exceptional classical curriculum in a Christ-centered learning environment.
We are a unique school community where a love of learning is fostered; our children learn how to think, not just what to think. Palisades Episcopal School focuses on the whole child. We help students form a lively soul, a discerning mind, and a healthy body. Founded on the premise that Christ is the source of all truth, Palisades Episcopal School is dedicated to sound learning, new discovery and t
Art Camp at PES was glowing with creativity last week.
Our theme, “Glow & Create”, gave campers the chance to explore color, imagination, and a little bit of art-room magic. They made fireflies, neon zebras, sea creatures, pop-art flowers, pool-noodle sculptures, painted rock fish, and clay fish. All inspired by beloved childhood picture books.
Messy hands, bright ideas, and glowing creations made for an exciting and beautiful week in the art room.

Another favorite PES tradition: Señora Rodriguez’s 8th grade lunch.
Each year, she takes our 8th graders out for a special meal to celebrate all of their hard work as they get ready for graduation. The only catch? They have to order everything in Spanish.
It’s a fun, meaningful way for students to use what they’ve learned outside the classroom and see that language really does come to life in everyday moments.
We are so proud of these soon-to-be graduates and the way they continue to step into new challenges with confidence.
¡Felicidades, 8th graders!

Last week, one of our first grade students stepped into a very special role as Head of School for the Day, one of our most beloved auction items.
She stepped right into the role with confidence and a big smile, bringing so much joy to campus along the way. She gave all students a uniform pass, handed out popsicles, enjoyed a pizza lunch with her first grade class, helped present Middle School Awards during their ceremony, and even answered calls for Mrs. Hughes.
It was such a sweet day watching her lead with confidence, kindness, and a lot of excitement. She was a joy in every way and we think it’s safe to say PES may have a future leader on our hands.

Congratulations to our May Artists of the Month.
Our Kindergarten artist created a joyful royal self-portrait inspired by kings and queens. She used oil pastels, glitter watercolor, gold stamping, and crayon rubbings to create a piece full of personality, color, and imagination.
Our 1st grade artist created an enchanted rose inspired by Beauty and the Beast, using glitter crayon, watercolor, marbling, and paint splatter to give his piece a soft, magical glow.
Our 2nd grade artist designed a vibrant medieval castle inspired by Beauty and the Beast and the Château de Chambord in France. Her confident color choices, architectural details, and rose window focal point made her piece both thoughtful and imaginative.
Our 4th grade artists worked beautifully with clay, creating pieces that reflected patience, craftsmanship, and creative vision. One artist sculpted a detailed clay rose with care and confidence, while another created her own version of Mrs. Potts with an enchanted dragon. A third artist crafted a rose clay pot full of thoughtful detail, depth, and expression.
Our 8th grade artists created striking stained glass pieces inspired by enchanted lands and Beauty and the Beast. Their work showed strong use of color, contrast, perspective, movement, and design.
We are so proud of the creativity, effort, and artistry each of these students brought to their work. Thank you to for sponsoring this special program!
Yesterday’s annual Spanish Smoothie Bar was such a sweet highlight for our 7th graders.
After creating their own smoothie recipes in Spanish, students set up shop and served all PES students and teachers using only Spanish. They took orders, explained their flavors, and shared their creations with such confidence.
It was a joy to watch them move beyond memorized vocabulary and use Spanish in a way that felt purposeful, practical, and fun. Thank you, 7th Graders! We are so proud of you!

As a culmination of their animal and insect studies, our JK students spent the past several weeks observing the butterfly life cycle unfold right before their eyes. They watched tiny caterpillars grow bigger each day, form their chrysalises, and eventually emerge as beautiful butterflies ready to take flight.
🦋
Last week, JK students gathered to celebrate their release into the wild, each one making a wish before watching their butterflies flutter away. It felt especially symbolic this time of year, seeing just how much our littlest Gryphons have grown and changed since August, too.
🦋
To demonstrate what they learned, students recreated each stage of the butterfly life cycle with a special snack activity and practiced social skills during “community table” snack time together.
🦋
It was such a sweet ending to a year full of growth, wonder, and transformation.
