Anytime we have the opportunity to bring awareness to the careers of energy and engineering, we jump to the occasion. It was a pleasure for Kimberly Baker, Workforce Development Program Manager to connect with Road to Hire and speak with high school scholars. Not only did this dialogue expand awareness of career pathways, it builds a pipeline for the future workforce.

We are grateful to Tiffany Schaeffer and Stephanie Mercer of Pike/United Grid Solutions for taking the time during an EPIC Lunch & Learn earlier this month to share their real-world experiences and projects that involve critical thinking, adaptability, and innovation, demonstrating the importance of transferable skills and how classroom knowledge will be useful throughout the careers of our students.

The collaboration team of EPIC Explorers was given the opportunity to present at the North Carolina Science Teacher Association Professional Development Institute this week in Winston-Salem, NC. It was such a rewarding time of sharing standard aligned, turn-key resources for high school Physical Science teachers, while increasing awareness for students of careers in energy and engineering.

During Nuclear Week, we had the pleasure of the hosting a Lunch & Learn with the Duke Energy Nuclear Team where a wealth of knowledge was shared on the career pathways and opportunities. We truly appreciate the engagement of the team, and their willingness to share with our students. Special thank you to for making this happen.

Thank you to our panelists guests from Duke Energy SEL Technology—Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories , and UNC Charlotte College of Engineering for an engaging discussion about careers in the energy sector. They brought forth personal and professional expertise on the benefits of a career in energy, and real-world understanding to this industry, being a career of consequence.

It was a full house yesterday for Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) 's Lunch and Learn at EPIC! A big thank you to the presenters for taking the time to present their work and chat with our students about careers and internships at EPRI's Transmission and Distribution team.

When an industry partner such as WSP in the U.S. takes time out of their busy schedule to inspire the future workforce, share real-time projects, and offer internships and full-time career opportunities, that is the ultimate act of paying it forward. We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the EPIC Scholars Program and welcome our inaugural student cohort!

This immersive 6-month professional development experience is designed to equip engineering students with the essential skills to thrive in today’s multigenerational workforce. Students will engage with industry partners and their peers while enhancing the skills of communication, teambuilding, leadership, and problem-solving.

It was a pleasure to host the Nuclear Advisory Council Meeting yesterday on the UNC Charlotte campus! Our Director Robert Cox shared how EPIC works with industry partners and university resources to educate and offer experiential learning to our College of Engineering students and prepare them for careers in energy.
