On June 11th, Dr. Garry Landreth, a pivotal figure in play therapy, passed away on the International Day of Play Therapy. In honor of both of these events, we thought to explain the methods of play therapy through Dr. Landreth’s own words. Dr. Landreth spent his career working to support the emotional well-being of children, and his legacy will continue supporting families.

As hockey playoffs bring energy and intensity to rinks across the country, we’re thinking back to a special night right here at home in the Carolinas! 🏒

Earlier this year, Dream On 3 partnered with Child & Family Development for a Day Dream with the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Club, serving 13 incredible kids with an experience they won’t forget.

Rinkside seats. Time on ice. A high five tunnel moment with Checkers stars.

It was full of laughter, cheering, and the kind of joy that reminds you why this work matters. One family shared afterward, “This was such a special night and a milestone for our family. ❤️”

That’s what it’s all about. Creating space for kids to be themselves, try something new, and celebrate every win, big or small.
