This summer, our Upper School students traveled across the pond for a performing arts experience in England! ✈️ 🏴
Guided by PD faculty, students explored theatres, galleries, and museums throughout London to learn more about art history and performance. They also met directly with artists and performers to gain insight into the craft and watched several live productions, from the Globe Theater to the Royal Symphony. They also dove into the culture with a cooking class and walks around the city, and even met up with a PD alum at Oxford! 😊
Trips like these are just a small part of what makes up an incredible Global program here at Providence Day. From classroom activities to integrated cultural competency, and of course, trips around the world, both students and teachers have opportunities to broaden their perspectives and grow their skills as global citizens. We are so excited to announce that PD has been recognized as one of only 11 schools worldwide endorsed by the Institute for Global Learning (IGL), a highly selective recognition for excellence in global education! 👏

PD students learn persistence, confidence, and public speaking skills through many academic activities over the years, but none quite as directly as the annual Speech Contest!
This year, students from all three divisions practiced their writing and persuasion by participating, with eight finalists who presented their speeches to an audience of parents, teachers, and peers. Participants got to choose their speech topics, and their passion was evident!

Providence Day was honored to host the US Men's National Lacrosse Team last week on campus for their training camp! 🇺🇸🥍
The team took advantage of our outstanding athletics facilities as they prepared for their upcoming championship in August. They also took time out of their busy training schedule to meet with a group of PD families who love lacrosse! Members of the coaching staff hosted a Q&A, giving students the inside scoop about what their team and training are like, before the athletes came out to say hello and sign gear for their young fans.
What an incredible experience for our students as they grow their passion for athletics and learn from the greats! 👏🌟

Community engagement is a core part of developing our students into well-rounded, involved citizens who make an impact locally and globally!
Throughout the year, students from all three divisions participated in various service opportunities, including raising money for nonprofits, making encouraging cards and crafts for veterans and hospital patients, and much more. This year, our Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging office also led the charge for a new initiative called Season of Service, to highlight these opportunities and encourage students, faculty, and staff to see how they can contribute to the community in meaningful ways.

PD Together – a new day of learning and community for our Providence Day faculty and staff! 😊
We were so blessed to close out the school year with time together dedicated to learning, growth, creativity, and community bonding. The day was filled with award recognition and retirements, informational sessions led by faculty/staff for their peers, dedicated divisional meetings to reflect on the year, and a relaxing lunchtime for staff to come together as a whole. Plus, everyone was treated to a special vocal performance by rising senior Rowan Barwick!

Providence Day School was the first in the nation to establish the Global Studies Diploma for Upper School students, and the program has only continued to grow and flourish each year! 🌎
This year, 23 seniors received their Global Studies Diplomas, recognizing four years of dedication to expanding their perspectives, considering global ideas and conversations, and mastering a second (or third) language. These graduates have been prepared to go out into the world as global citizens who are able to innovate, connect ideas, and practice cultural competency.
We are so proud of these graduates for all of their hard work over the past four years! 👏

Going from fifth to sixth grade, from Lower to Middle School, marks a major milestone for our students, and we're so grateful to have celebrated that moment with them and their families! 🎉
A major part of the fifth grade tradition, though, involves work long before the closing ceremony. Each year, the grade focuses on a yearlong service project called Reading for Refugees, which supports the Collateral Repair Project, a nonprofit helping refugee students in Jordan. Students video call with refugees, learn about global issues, and raise money based on the novels they read, with top readers recognized at the closing ceremony!

Before our graduates turned their tassels and accepted their diplomas, they enjoyed several pre-Commencement traditions that focus on community! ❤️💙
First, Senior Sunset, where seniors and their parents come out for a relaxing evening filled with music, games, food, and good times together. We want to make sure parents get a time to sit back and enjoy that they also made it this far! 😉
Then, the Senior/Faculty Dinner and Convocation, held the night before Commencement and hosted by the PD Alumni Association. Seniors shared sweet moments with teachers who have seen them through their journeys to graduation! Student speaker Cate Brinley ‘26 and alumni speaker Cam Shaffer ‘24 also shared words of wisdom with the Class of 2026, encouraging them to cherish their memories and stay connected. Convocation invited a close-knit moment to celebrate the graduates with speakers, musical performances, and more.
All these small moments added up to such a special Senior Season!! 🎉
