The Charlotte Speechies family is celebrating Dr. Peters! ❤️🖤🐾
We are incredibly proud to recognize Dr. Peters for facilitating a powerful 3-hour workshop for the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona focused on cultural humility, inclusive practices, and the importance of equity in both clinical care and clinician training.
By leaning fully into her identity as a Black, Antiguan-American speech-language pathologist, Dr. Peters created space for authentic and necessary conversations surrounding explicit and implicit bias, microaggressions, and cultural blindness within our profession. The dialogue was thoughtful, impactful, and exactly the kind of leadership our field needs.
What makes this accomplishment even more meaningful is the strength and resilience behind it. Dr. Peters she still shows up fully for students, faculty, and the profession carrying forward values, strength, and purpose.

That kind of courage, authenticity, and commitment to advocacy leaves a lasting impact.

Thank you, Dr. Peters, for continuing to push our profession forward and for reminding us that representation, lived experience, and equity-centered leadership matter deeply in speech-language pathology.

✔️ Spend tonight reminiscing with classmates about:
– surviving clinic
– group projects
– SOAP notes at midnight
– and saying “I’m tired” approximately 47 times a semester

Tomorrow you officially walk across the stage as the FIRST NORTHEASTERN Charlotte MS-SLP graduating cohort EVER. 🐾❤️🖤

What an incredible legacy to leave behind.

We are so proud of the clinicians, leaders, advocates, and humans you have become.
