🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to our Bonnie Fraker scholarship winner, McKenzie Hawkins!

This year the Theatre Arts Guild (TAG) of Northwest School of the Arts has the privilege of awarding one (1) $1,500 Theatre Scholarship to a graduating senior in the Musical Theatre, Theatre, or Technical Theatre program in memory of former school educator Bonnie Fraker.

This one-time scholarship is intended to support the recipient in pursuing continued education and training in the performing arts.

Way to go, McKenzie! 🎉🎭

Guest Artist Stuart Ranson recently visited NWSA and conducted a workshop for the Improvisation class. Stuart is one of the originators of the nationally known musical improv team called Baby Wants Candy. He studied and performed in Chicago and New York and is now acting and improvising in Charlotte.

Ranson is running a Musical Improv Building Blocks workshop in May at Visart. We will share info on the event in our story!

Come one, come all, and join us for 2026-2027 Play Production auditions next week. The Play Production class runs the length of the next school year starting in the fall, and is audition-based. This class is open to students who have completed at least two levels of high school theatre classes at NWSA and also pass the audition. Students in this class will have opportunity to perform at the North Carolina Theatre Conference’s high school play festival, as well as dive deeper into what it takes to research, direct, produce and promote a show for the stage.
