RBTs are still leaving the field mainly because of pay, scheduling, and lack of support. We can absolutely do better here.
RBT requirements change in 2026, including training updates, a new test outline, and a two-year recert cycle.
BCBA pathways shift too, and licensure laws still apply even if you hold certification.

April is Autism Acceptance Month which is a time to honor neurodiversity, uplift autistic voices, and advocate for inclusion and understanding.

It’s about listening, learning, and creating spaces where autistic people feel seen, supported, and celebrated every day.

Starting in 2027, DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) will no longer be a required part of BCBA or BCaBA coursework or continuing education.

Instead, it’s been folded into the “ethics” category—without any explicit requirement that DEI be included at all.

Let’s be clear: if it’s not required, it won’t be prioritized. And without intentional training, future practitioners may not be equipped to serve clients from marginalized backgrounds with the care and cultural humility they deserve.

This isn’t just disappointing, it’s dangerous.

Ethical practice is more than knowing the code, it’s about recognizing the full humanity of the people we serve.

We owe it to our clients, our communities, and our field to speak up.

I love traveling and spending time with my doodle, Phoenix.

Changing the world for little and helping them achieve independence in all areas of their life.
