A gut feeling brought Vera Ntasin to UNC Charlotte, and now she’s graduating with a mathematics degree from the Klein College of Science and a data science minor from the College of Computing and Informatics. 🎓💚 ⛏️
To honor her outstanding scholarship and leadership as a Niner Guide, SAFE mentor and treasurer and dance coordinator for the Organization of African Students, Ntasin was awarded a 2026 Distinguished Leaders Medal from the Office of Leadership & Community Engagement. 🏅
Ntasin gained professional experience through two Deloitte internships and a Wells Fargo externship and is already continuing her education through UNC Charlotte’s Data Science and Business Analytics early entry master’s program. 🎉

A historic moment for Niner Nation 💚✨
has officially named the Ishwar Aggarwal Department of Physics and Optical Science, marking the first time a sitting professor has endowed an academic department in University history. 🎉
Ishwar “Ish” Aggarwal’s impact reaches far beyond his groundbreaking work in optical science. His guiding philosophy of “trust and share” shaped research teams, inspired young scientists and fueled innovations that changed industries.
Now, with a $2 million gift from Aggarwal and his wife, Shail, graduate students in physics and optical science will have new opportunities to pursue discovery and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
