Planting day 🌱
The wood chips set the mood — that beautiful earthy scent filling the air as we spread them across the space. Then our farmer guides brought out all the greens 💚 and started staging, placing each plant so they work together. Shade and sun, an ecosystem where everyone and everything has a role.
This is exactly why we wanted a guide — someone to walk us through it, bring the joy of learning, and share their experience along the way 🩷
🥹 Now, we wait. Watching patiently as our food grows and we take the next steps in this journey of growing our own.
And we're not just growing for Carlos and me. We're growing to feed our whole family — Franklin, our pittie 🐶 Lobo, our Chihuahua 🐶 and Gato, our cat 🐱 — plus a little to share with the local wildlife. Because we share this world, and we each have a part to play in that relationship.
We can't wait to see what sprouts first and cook our very first meal with ingredients we grew ourselves 💚
Are you growing any food this year? What have you learned so far? 👇

For years, people in our comunidad have asked: “How do I start? It sounds too hard to even begin?” And for years, we struggled with sharing our lived experience healing our chronic issues with diabetes and gut health.
Embracing Concious Eating is a guide to what eating consciously means for the person who wants to feel better but doesn’t know where to start. For the person who thinks you need training, a fancy kitchen, or a lot of money. You don’t. You just need to start.

Cultura en our cocina se ve así 🇲🇽 💚
When we decided to move to plants, I went back to those recipes mi mamá taught me. Same flavors, same memories — just a little kinder to la tierra and our bodies.
You don’t have to choose between your culture and your health. They were always meant to grow together.
Comment with the dish you grew up with — I might just plant-base it for you next 🍄
This one tip changed everything for me and I think about it every single time I sit down to eat. 🍄
You don’t need a perfect diet. You don’t need to know how to cook like a chef. You just need one thing to start and I promise, that’s enough.
Save this so you don’t forget it. And if you want more tips like this, something special is coming muy pronto for you. 💚
On this Earth Day, I want to give flowers to an organization that does the real work — every single month, right here in Chicago. 🌍💚
has been building something special: a community that believes in the circular economy, in composting, in local markets, in teaching people how to live more consciously. And they’ve been doing it quietly, consistently, for years.
This work inspires me. It reminds me that sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s a practice. Una comunidad. A way of choosing differently, together.
Gracias, Plant Chicago. For everything you do for our city. 🌿

Big change starts with small action. Here are 5 everyday habits that honor the earth, your body, and your
community.
Earth Day is this week and while one day of awareness matters, la tierra needs us every day. 🌍
Sustainability isn’t new to us.
It’s ancestral.
It’s what our abuelas knew: waste nothing, grow everything, honor the Earth with intention.
Here are some of the simple, rooted ways we practice this at home:
🌸 Dried flower bouquets: when the flowers fade, we let them dry and become something just as beautiful. A reminder of transformation and the cycle of life.
🍲 Leftovers = tomorrow’s lunch, the most ancient sustainability practice there is.
🪴 Plants everywhere! Bringing in the greenery, the oxygen, the mood. That IS Earth energia.
🌱 Composting: coffee grounds, veggie scraps, kitchen cuttings all go into our compost bin (check your community programs, many offer free bins, seeds & trees ). That “waste” becomes rich soil we feed back to our plants.
✨ Reduce. Reuse. Repurpose. Recycle. We will always use resources, the intention is to minimize harm and create cycles of growth.
What are the ways YOU practice sustainability and care for our planet?
Share in the comments! Let’s inspire each other
🌎 Make every day Earth Day.

Nobody handed me a cookbook and said “you’re ready.”
I burned things. I overseasoned. I started over. And I kept going — because food is my medicine and my comunidad deserves better options. 💚
Here’s what I want you to know: You don’t need training to cook for yourself and your family. You need one thing → confidence that you CAN.
Every single person who has ever made something delicious started exactly where you are right now.
If I can do it, you can do it. ✨
