In 2005, RP Boo produced Bang’n on King Drive for the annual Bud Billiken Parade, a South Side tradition held each summer along Martin Luther King Drive.
The track was designed for the rhythm of the parade itself, where dancers, drill teams, and marching bands move through the streets and footwork crews often debut new routines.
It was released in 2015 as a documentary, capturing that energy with K-Phi-9, the Era footwork crew, Juke Boi, and the South Shore Drill Team, documenting how Chicago’s dance culture continues to shape and animate the city’s public spaces.

Japan’s underground hardcore scenes built their own world: small rooms, extreme tempos, DIY flyers and a tight community pushing rave culture into new territory.
From Tokyo to Osaka, these sounds and visuals helped shape what later became J-core, and even influenced modern electronic music far beyond Japan.
When acid house crossed oversees, the mainstream media couldn’t understand what it was all about.
They labeled it as a ‘sinister cult’ and said it’s days were numbered... little did they know it was only just starting.
Acid house became a language for love, release and community, a place where people met on the dance floor as equals.

Through his photography, Mertes captured a Detroit that was raw, insular, and quietly inventing the future
