🤖🚛🌲 WHERE THE SOUTH SIDE MEETS THE FUTURE OF AI — AND THE MACHINES ARE ALREADY THERE.
Merely walking distance from Chicago State University’s campus at 1230 E. 95th Street in Roseland sits one of the most unique AI and robotics research facilities in the Midwest.
The Center for Ethical Robotics was founded by CSU alumnus Jokari T. Miller. Newly appointed Director Bernard Boston is also a CSU alumnus and PhD candidate at Norfolk State University.
What separates CER from virtually every other AI organization operating today is this: they are not here to make AI faster, smarter, or more powerful. CER exists to confront the ethical and safety consequences this technology is already producing — and will continue to produce. In Miller’s own words, CER is the organization dedicated to addressing what happens when all of this technology “goes left.” Someone has to ask those questions seriously and systematically. CER decided that would be them — from 95th Street.
The facility sits on land owned by Joe Scruggs, an 86-year-old Army veteran whose property operated as a commercial truck yard for over 31 years. Those trucks are still on site — now active research assets. Former customers became research participants.
Studying:
🚛 Autonomous semi-trucks
🔧 Autonomous tow trucks — real technology most people don’t know exists
🏗️ Robotic forklifts and construction equipment
📦 AI in logistics and supply chain
⚖️ Ethics, safety, and legal frameworks — and where they fail
Open to ALL CSU students regardless of major. And on the other side of the viaduct? A full natural forest available as a film and TV production location.
The future of ethical AI is being built on 95th Street. 💚🤖

🌎⚠️ DISASTER AWARENESS: FROM NATURE TO TECHNOLOGY ⚠️🤖👽
Volcanoes. Hurricanes. Earthquakes. Pandemics. Wildfires. Even emerging risks such as AI system failures/attack and hypothetical extraterrestrial threats.
Understanding disasters—both natural and human-caused—helps communities prepare, respond, and recover. As technology evolves and our world becomes more interconnected, emergency preparedness remains an essential skill for every generation.
Which disaster do you think society is least prepared for?

What are your thoughts on this AI generated image? To explain the image, it is depicting two individuals with “certain” physical features playing chess while they are merely pieces on a board which is a GO game. It is being played by two other gentlemen that have their own particular facial features (figure it out). GO is an ancient board game that is supposed to simulate a strategic battle between two forces. It is not well known in America, but widely played in Asian countries. It is often compared to Chess, but GO is far more strategic than Chess, and an analogy is drawn that GO makes chess look like tic-tac-toe.. chess is a game of attrition in which players try to mate their opponents King, this is when there is nowhere for the king to go, and the king is threatened by one of the opponents pieces. GO however, requires much more patience, and it resembles a technique that the Chinese use against everyone known as “soft power“. In GO players can make very subtle moves to acquire more space while using minimal resources to do it until you have “out-spaced” your opponent and you have all the territory. In the image what it is basically saying is that while some “under-served communities” are always taught that “life is chess, not checkers“ OTHER communities that have more power over their own communities, and are more independent GLOBALLY, know all too well that life is not really Chess. It is actually a game of GO. TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS CONCEPT AS IT IS EXPLAINED? DO YOU AGREE? IF YOU DON’T AGREE, THEN WHY?

🌍✨ Congratulations to Ajna Shakur-El — a high school freshman, and the inaugural recipient of the Center for Ethical Robotics’ Egypt/Kemet Bound Robotics Fellowship Award.
Over the course of November and December 2025, Ajna embarked on a transformative two-month international fellowship spanning Canada, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Italy, and Egypt/Kemet — one month across those nations combined, and one full month immersed in Egypt/Kemet, the land that started it all.
During her journey, Ajna explored the global impact of the AI & robotics revolution on societies worldwide. She stood before ancient monuments, and masterworks of art that, to this day, modern technology has not been able to recreate. And she came face to face with cutting-edge innovation — including a hands-on encounter with the Tesla Optimus robot.
This is an experience she will carry for a lifetime. 🤖🏛️
About CER:
The Center for Ethical Robotics is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the ethics and safety issues surrounding AI, robotics, and emerging technologies. With a global STEM/STEAM initiative, CER teaches underserved youth and adults in their own language — using AI music as vehicles for ethical, meaningful engagement with technology.
CER has developed curriculum in “Counter-Robotics” and “Counter-AI” — designed to prepare communities, schools, and universities for what is already unfolding.
Now under the direction of Bernard Boston, a Chicago State University alumnus currently pursuing his PhD at Norfolk State University, CER has opened a new research facility at 1230 E. 95th St., Chicago — east of Chicago State University — a former truck yard now converted into a hub for researching AI & robotics ethics/safety within the trucking, logistics, and supply chain industries.
The future belongs to those who are prepared for it. CER is building that foundation — one young mind at a time. 💡
