PAA 2026: At this year's Population Association of America 2026 Annual Meeting, HPA faculty member Zhuoer Lin and PhD student Mingyang Zhang presented their research titled "Timing and Duration of Smoking Cessation Across the Life Course and Risk of Cognitive Impairment and Dementia".
Dr. Lin's research focuses on understanding the life course social determinants of (cognitive) aging and how public policy can address racial, ethnic, sociodemographic, and geographic disparities in (cognitive) health and healthcare.
Mingyang's research focuses on health economics, including cognitive aging, health policy, and population health.

Delta Omega 2026: Congratulations to Lusi Martin-Braswell, a recent graduate of our DrPH program, on being named a 2026 Delta Omega Inductee! The Delta Omega Honorary Society recognizes outstanding achievement, leadership, and devotion to the field of public health.
Dr. Lusi Martin-Braswell is a U.S. Public Health Service dietitian officer and a public health leader with nearly two decades of experience dedicated to advancing public health systems, health IT innovation, and workforce development. Throughout her career, she has supported public health initiatives impacting diverse populations at local, national, and international levels, with a strong focus on health equity, leadership, and organizational transformation.

PAA 2026: At this year's Population Association of America 2026 Annual Meeting, Aline Vandenbroeck, a PhD student within HPA, presented her work titled "The Role of Scope-of-Practice Laws in Shaping Access to Abortion Clinics, 2009–2021" and also gave a poster presentation titled "Does Access to Contraception Reduce Abortions? Evidence From Age-Based Reimbursement in Belgium".
Aline's research examines how reproductive policies shape healthcare access and population health and well-being and hopes to advance reproductive justice through her work.

Delta Omega 2026: Congratulations to Rashida Brown, a recent graduate of our MPH program, on being named a 2026 Delta Omega Inductee! The Delta Omega Honorary Society recognizes outstanding achievement, leadership, and devotion to the field of public health.
Rashida's Applied Practice Experience took place in Ghana, where she gained firsthand exposure to global health systems, policy development, and public health leadership through rotations within Ghana’s Ministry of Health and even got a chance to attend the Africa Health Sovereignty Summit, focused on advancing the continent from health aid dependency toward greater self-reliance.
Rashida looks forward to continuing her work in public health through federal service and future global health initiatives that center policy, regulation, and equitable access to care.
