In January 2002, Barack Obama (then-Illinois State Senator and a senior lecturer at the Law School) presented the keynote address for the University's Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.
24 years later, Obama returns to his home neighborhood of Hyde Park for the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center—just down the road from Rockefeller Memorial Chapel!

Tower Tours resume on June 24!
Learn about the history of the Chapel and climb the 271 steps to the top of the carillon tower on this 45-minute round trip tour.
Tours run Tuesday - Friday at 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM. $5 suggested donation, free with UCID.

Hear University Organist Thomas Weisflog and guests play a mixture of Baroque, Romantic, and contemporary music on the E.M. Skinner organ. Tea served from 3:45 PM, the music begins at 4 PM.

The Lion and the Lute: Music at the Court of Leo X🦁
In honor of the election of Pope Leo XIV, the Lumen Christi Institute hosts a sacred concert at Rockefeller Chapel this Friday, May 22. The Schola Antiqua will sing the magnificent choral music of one of the pope’s Leonine forebearers, Pope Leo X, the great patron of the arts.
