Research takes many different forms in the College, but every project begins the same way: with curiosity.

For some students, that means working in a lab. For others, it’s studying climate systems, exploring history or even partnering with communities. No matter the discipline, undergraduate research gives students the chance to pursue the questions that matter most to them, and often changes the way they see the world.

Congratulations to students Marissa Boucher, Brennan Lee and Mason McCormack on being named 2026 Astronaut Scholars by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, receiving support to pursue post-graduation research in STEM fields.

They join a national cohort of students recognized and will be honored at ASF’s Innovators Symposium & Gala this August in Houston, Texas.

Rising third-year Joyce Li, did just that by creating the Neighborhood Skates non-profit with funding from the Hutchins Scholars in Public Leadership program at UChicago.
