This Pride Month, Illinois Tech is celebrating stories that remind us why visibility matters. 🌈
In the latest installment of our Heritage Month animation series, we highlight notable individuals whose lives and legacies helped shape history, culture, and society:
- Ma Rainey, the pioneering "Mother of the Blues," who celebrated autonomy and identity through music.
- Casimir Pulaski, Revolutionary War hero whose story has sparked conversations around intersex history.
- Bayard Rustin, the civil rights strategist behind the 1963 March on Washington whose impact helped shape a movement.
- Mary Shelley, the literary visionary behind Frankenstein, who challenged conventions through both her writing and life.
These stories are only a small part of LGBTQ+ history, reminding us that inclusive history is essential history.
