Let’s Learn Today 💛
☕️🌍 Coffee Around the World: Ethiopia
Many consider Ethiopia to be the birthplace of coffee. In fact, it remains one of Africa’s largest coffee producers and has a centuries-old coffee tradition known as Buna Tetu, meaning “come drink coffee.”
During the ceremony, coffee is brewed in a traditional clay vessel called a jebena and shared among family and friends. Guests are typically served three cups: the first strong, the second a little milder, and the third the gentlest.
The ceremony is about gathering. It’s about conversation, connection, hospitality, and slowing down long enough to be present with one another.
As someone who spends most of my days surrounded by clay, I couldn’t help but appreciate that one of the world’s most cherished coffee traditions is centered around a handcrafted clay pot.
Sometimes the simplest things—a cup of coffee, a piece of pottery, a shared conversation—carry centuries of culture and history within them.
It’s about the community we are building here.
All are welcome
