When we need our allies they will remember this for a long time. Trump is just playing into Putin's hands.

America just told Europe to defend itself — and our NATO allies are absolutely furious.

New reports confirm the US military is dramatically cutting the number of fighter jets, warships, and strategic bombers it commits to NATO in a crisis. America will send zero submarines to support European defense and slash bomber commitments by 50%. Fighter jet availability drops by 33%.

This is the Trump administration's "America First" defense strategy in action. The argument is simple: wealthy European nations need to pay for their own protection. American officials say the US can no longer carry Europe's entire defense burden alone.

European NATO allies are alarmed. Germany, France, and the UK are urgently drawing up emergency plans to fill the massive gap left by US withdrawals. Without American air and sea power, experts warn NATO's eastern flank — the border closest to Russia — becomes dangerously exposed.

This matters directly for Americans. Fewer US forces committed to Europe could mean more pressure on our military at home and in the Pacific. And if Russia ever attacks a NATO country, our treaty obligation may still pull American soldiers into the fight — with fewer resources to do it.
