This year, we are Dashing in honor of Lowell. ❤️

Join us for the Dysphagia Dash as we walk in memory of Lowell Davis, a former patient and participant whose life and legacy continue to inspire our work.

We will gather on June 11th at 5:00 PM at Summit Park in Blue Ash, outside of MadTree Parks & Recreation. We plan to start walking around 5:30 PM, and everyone is welcome to stay afterward to enjoy food, time together, and the outdoor play area.

All are welcome — friends, family, colleagues, and community members. We would love for you to walk with us, donate, or share this post to help raise awareness and support for dysphagia research and care.

Advancing bedside swallowing assessments🧠✨ This study validates ultrasound as a reliable tool for tracking hyoid motion by directly comparing it with videofluoroscopy-the current gold standard-using simultaneous imaging from 23 participants and 56 swallows. With dynamic correction for transducer movement, ultrasound measurements showed strong agreement with videofluoroscopy, highlighting how even small probe motion (~0.37 cm) can impact accuracy if unaccounted for.

Huge credit to the authors of this work-whose collaborative efforts made this validation possible-and to the entire research team for pushing forward accessible, noninvasive approaches to studying swallowing physiology. Their work brings us closer to accurate, real-time bedside evaluation of swallowing function without relying solely on radiographic imaging.

Another podium this year was presented by Nicholas Schoenleb, a brilliant biomedical engineering student we've had the joy of collaborating with. He's gone above and beyond to grasp swallowing from both clinical and engineering angles! We're beyond proud of him! He absolutely crushed it. 🌟✨🙌🏼

Some moments from the poster sessions! This year our UC group had SIX scientific posters on display!! 👏🏆🔥 It’s been a whirlwind! We love poster sessions for the opportunity to dive deeper into discussions and get feedback on our work, generate new ideas, and even some collaborations!
