Today we honor Juneteenth and the ongoing work of freedom.

"Struggle is a never-ending process. Freedom is never really won; you earn it and win it in every generation." — Coretta Scott King

This spring, our 5th and 6th graders visited the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and came back with hard questions still on their minds. At XJA, the call to honor the human dignity of every person is the heart of a Jesuit education. Read a reflection about the trip: xavierjesuitacademy.org/FreedomCenterTrip26

Some of the most important lessons happen outside the classroom. Thank you to volunteer Tom MacDonald for developing and teaching a Financial Literacy curriculum for our students as an enrichment program. The reward at the end was a hit, but the real gift is the knowledge our young men will carry with them for life.

"Committed to Doing Justice means looking out for others. You do what is right and you don't give up when things get hard." Tomás, 2025 Committed to Doing Justice Core Value Award Recipient, reminds us that justice takes courage and perseverance. That is exactly the kind of character we are forming at XJA every single day. We are so proud of you, Tomás.

Summer is here, and so are we.

Our students are out of the building, but the work behind the scenes is very much underway. Staff and volunteers are busy preparing for one of XJA's most important traditions: Summer Institute.

July 27–August 7, our young men will come back together for two weeks of intentional learning, community, and formation. Summer Institute exists to close the summer learning gap and deepen the bonds that make XJA what it is, bringing our culture to life before the school year even begins.

Each morning will be anchored in academics: reading, math, science, and art. Each afternoon will turn toward something just as essential: community building, religious formation, and an introduction to the XJA Way.

This year, we will welcome our first class of third graders into the tradition. And for the first time, Summer Institute will be held right here at XJA in Bond Hill. We can't wait.

Our students come from across Greater Cincinnati. While more students call Bond Hill and Roselawn home, families from over many school districts entrust us with their sons, investing time daily to bring them to Bond Hill for an excellent Catholic education. This map shows where our young men call home, with darker shades indicating higher concentrations of students. We're grateful for every parent and caregiver who partners with us in forming the next generation of faith-filled leaders.

"Faith-Filled to me is having trust and faith in God, and always believing he wants what is best for us. It also means having hope and seeing the best when something is not going your way. It is the faith that things can be turned around."

Kimari, 2025 Faith-Filled Core Value Award Recipient, reminds us that faith is not just something we practice on Sundays. It is how we show up every single day. We are so proud of you, Kimari.

This week we delivered an acceptance letter to a young man whose older brother is already thriving at XJA and has been recognized multiple times for living our Core Values.

Watching a family grow with us is one of the great joys of this work. We are proud to welcome him to Xavier Jesuit Academy.

2026 Spring Social perks are still delivering. XJA partnered with New Riff Distilling on a limited run of Kentucky bourbon, and this week Joe Feldkamp and Steve Wolf finalized the details, including which barrel we chose. Guests who purchased bottles at the event will be notified when they’re ready for pickup.

2026 St. Ignatius of Loyola Volunteer Service Award also goes to someone who shows up, season after season, with her hands in the soil and her heart set on our students. Laurie Roche has poured countless hours into the Bond Hill Learning Garden, keeping it thriving while also inviting our young men to take real ownership of the space alongside her. Congratulations, Laurie. We are so grateful for you.
