HIDE YOUR HEELS! šŸ‘£

Summer No GI has officially started!

06/17/2026

Super excited about No-Gi starting this summer!

For the next 8–10 weeks, we’ll be diving deep into two of my favorite areas of grappling: wrestling and leg locks. We’re going to focus on building strong fundamentals, developing great habits, and giving our students a ton of practical drills that translate directly into live training.

Summer is the perfect time to sharpen your skills, challenge yourself, and grow as a grappler. Whether you’re brand new to No-Gi or have years of experience, there’s going to be something for everyone.

Follow along with us on our No-Gi Summer Journey. We’ll be sharing techniques, drills, training highlights, and lessons learned along the way.

Make sure to:āœ… Follow the pageāœ… Comment and ask questionsāœ… Share your progress with us

We’re here to help and we’d love to have you be part of the journey.

Stay focused. Stay motivated. See you on the mats.

Being the toughest kid in the room is cool, but that’s not the GOAL.

The goal is to be coachable, resilient, and willing to learn. That’s what makes Jiu Jitsu so special. There is always something new to discover, another lesson to learn, and another opportunity to grow.

Every round represents a challenge. Every class is another step forward. Our whole goal is to pour patience, discipline, problem-solving and perseverance in ways that extend far beyond our mats.

These Maniacs are improving SO MUCH, not because of their talent alone, but because they continue to show up, embrace the process, and refuse to quit.

Growth happens when you CHOOSE to do the hard things repeatedly.

Every class is another opportunity to become stronger, more confident and more capable than you were yesterday!

Training isn’t always easy, and it isn’t always fun. But that’s part of what makes it worthwhile. The lessons learned through hard work extend far beyond our gym walls.

One of the most important attributes I look for in a fighter isn’t talent, athleticism, toughness, or physical ability.

It’s coachability.

I need fighters who can listen. Fighters who can make corrections. Fighters who can accept feedback and apply it. Fighters who trust the process.

As coaches, we’re the eyes and ears of the fighter. We see the fight from a third-person perspective. We see patterns, mistakes, opportunities, and dangers that are often impossible for the athlete to recognize in the moment.

Recently, I had one of those coaching moments with a fighter who transitioned into MMA from a boxing background. On the surface, punching looks the same. To the untrained eye, it all just looks like boxing.

But MMA striking is a completely different animal.

The stance is different. The distance is different. The threats are different. The timing is different. Every movement has to account for kicks, knees, clinch work, takedowns, and the possibility of ending up on the ground.

What worked in one sport doesn’t always work in another.

My job as a coach is to help fighters course-correct their journey, and their job is to be willing to listen and make adjustments.

That’s why coachability is so valuable.

I’ve coached talented athletes who couldn’t take direction, and I’ve coached average athletes who became exceptional because they were willing to learn. Give me the coachable athlete every single time.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have a team full of fighters who trust their coaches, ask questions, make adjustments, and continue to grow.

Talent may open the door, but coachability determines how far you’ll go.

Stay focused. Stay humble. Stay coachable.

Every class is another step forward, even if it doesn’t feel like a big one. Progress is happening in the work they put in, not just the end result.

Those teenage years come with enough challenges already…

Having a place to train, grow, and develop both physically and mentally can make all the difference.
