You may think that schools in the summertime are empty and waiting for students to return in August. But that’s not entirely true! Mrs. Teismann’s Camp Invention is helping keep the school spirit alive in the summertime.

During the two sessions of Camp Invention at Wilson Elementary, local educators guide students through hands-on STEM activities that teach new concepts, pose unique challenges and allow students to work together.

Some of the activities include solving critter crime scenes with forensic science, creating inventions to transform a planet’s ecosystems for human habitation and exploring the inner workings of a robotic capybara!

FHSD and the XCL Program had the privilege yesterday of saying thank you to the many business and community partners who helped make XCL possible during the 2025-2026 school year. Because of their generosity, FHSD students participated in nearly 1,000 career-connected learning experiences and more than 770 students explored careers, built professional skills and connected classroom learning to the real world.

To every partner who opened a door, shared a story or simply said "yes" to helping a student: thank you. Your impact reaches far beyond a single event, and we are grateful to have you as part of the XCL community! 💚

When Nagel 8th graders visited Washington, D.C. in May, a select few had the opportunity to participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

As their classmates and members of the public looked on, four Nagel students took part in this solemn tradition, paying tribute to the service members who made the sacrifice in service to our nation. It was a powerful moment of reflection, gratitude and reverence.

We are also grateful to Nagel student Gavin Hill for capturing this meaningful moment through his lens. His photography helps tell the story of a powerful experience that attendees are sure to remember.

We are saying farewell to an FHSD bus driving legend! The district was honored to celebrate bus driver Kim Stamper on her retirement at the end of the school year. Known for her wide variety of costumes - primarily holiday themed, Kim completes her career after 35 years and driving more than 500,000 miles! 🚌🎉

Thank you, Kim, for your many years of service, the countless smiles and your ability to make everyone's day a little brighter. Congratulations!
