Throughout time the message has remained the same.

In present time, we are conditioned to avoid pain and discomfort. Having real time tools to feel the flame without succumbing to it and to pull the signal from the noise are essential to walking the authentic path of leaning into and learning from the resistance.

This is the way.

To explore Energetic Boundaries, we used the ‘energy stick’ as a way to demonstrate how energy conducts, transfers and resonates. Around the room, we considered how our brilliant design to experience this life is made up of energy. Energy of thoughts, emotions, sensations, intellect and spirit.

I had the honor of speaking at the 13th Annual Trauma-Informed Summit, “Rooted in Resilience,” in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by the Ohio Children’s Alliance and the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health. My session, ‘Reclaiming Personal Energy: Reset + Recharge Your Energetic Boundaries’ explores how energy flows, how attuning without energetic hygiene can accumulate energetic residue, how stress/chronic stress/trauma impact the energy system and how trauma informed care + real-time resilience creates pathways for connection, trust, posttraumatic growth + human resilience.

At the center of it all is something I return to: self-leadership is the most important skill we have to resource for our own lives and as an authentic foundation in the lives of the people we lead. As an insight into my own journey with burnout resilience, how we show care and lead the self is ultimately how we show care and lead those around.

If this resonates with you and you are curious about bringing trauma-informed nervous system interactive training to your team, let’s talk!

Like a diligent Ta**us, I took time to celebrate and be extra about the self-care before keynoting State of Ohio Trauma Informed Care pre-summit for HR professionals.

My intentions were to:

- recognize that it was enough prep work. ✔️
- get out of my head and into my body. ✔️
- trust myself.✔️
- honor healing an old survival strategy of over-preparing (it’s been 5 years now of embracing and embodying adrienne maree brown’s, “Less prep, more presence.”)!✔️

Don’t get me wrong, I love to work the details of holding space for an interactive workshop-style training on trauma-informed care.

This is different though. The shift is asking “what do I need to best support my nervous system? What do I need to be the grounded presence in a room of multigenerational, interdisciplinary professionals?”

I also let my Ta**us self shine and celebrate with a sweat, soak and float. ♉️💜

What an honor to keynote the Ohio Trauma-Informed Care Summit pre-conference for HR professionals.

I spent the day with leaders (499 years of combined experience!) who carry the responsibility of balancing compliance, policy, workforce wellbeing, and human development. While many organizations have implemented trauma-informed care initiatives, our conversation focused on a deeper question:

How do we create systems that don’t just talk about trauma-informed care, but truly embody it?

We explored what it means to build workplace cultures grounded in safety, predictability, agency and trust...not only for employees, but for the leaders responsible for supporting them.

One of the most important reminders of the day: Trauma-informed care begins with the caregiver, helper, supervisor, and leader.

We cannot sustainably care for organizations, teams, and communities if we are disconnected from our own needs, energy, and nervous system health.

Memorial Day reminds us that freedom was carried here through sacrifice.

Today we honor those who gave their lives and hold gratitude for the quiet resilience, courage, and humanity that connects us all ❤️

Empathy and sensitivity are human superpowers. Without boundaries and energetic hygiene, it is a fast pathway to overwhelm and burnout.

What do you do to refresh yourself?

We’ll go first… water! 💦 Showers, rivers, lakes, oceans, pools, no matter. For an extra reset and remineralization: epsom salt baths.

It was a full day of inspiration and connection kicked off by Riaz Meghji, a thought leader and human connection expert who challenged us to audit our awareness, be present and a source of trust.

It felt like the perfect tee-up to guide the room in a interactive presentation around nervous system health and energetic boundaries.

Thank you to Carol Taylor and team from Ohio Children’s Alliance for the invitation and creating a uniquely engaging event.
