Cultivating the best in each for the benefit of all.

We join our community in mourning the passing of Mike Leurck, a beloved member of the Purcell and Purcell Marian faculty for 46 years. We pray that God's love and light comfort all who grieve his passing.

Mike served as a Physical Education teacher and coached several sports, but his longest and most cherished tenure was leading the Cavaliers boys basketball program. Through coaching, Mike not only taught the game he loved but also served as a mentor and role model to countless young people.

A visitation will be held at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 5527 Cheviot Road (45247) on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 3 pm to 6 pm. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5361 Dry Ridge Road (45252), on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Today, we give thanks for fathers, father figures, mentors, and all who chose to stay engaged, to remain present, and to give more than was easy. We celebrate you and the incredible love, strength, and support you bring to our lives, and we pray that you be given the graces of wisdom, courage, understanding, and forgiveness.

Today, we join communities across our nation in celebrating Juneteenth and commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, while honoring the enduring pursuit of freedom, justice, and human dignity.

At Purcell Marian, our diverse and vibrant community is one of our greatest strengths. The stories, cultures, and experiences that each member brings enrich our school and help prepare our students to become compassionate leaders in an ever-changing world.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, may we be inspired by the courage of those who came before us, strengthened by our faith, and united in our commitment to creating a more just and hopeful future for all.

We proudly presented the Class of 2026 Cavalier Awards to Mariah Smith and Trevor Younge, who exemplify our school expectations of respectfulness, responsibility, leadership, and pride in themselves and Purcell Marian. These students truly embody what it means to be a Cavalier.

Mariah will attend the University of Dayton to study Secondary Education with a focus on Mathematics. Among her accomplishments at the Castle, she was an NHS member, a student ambassador, a member of the girls' basketball program, and a St. Frances Xavier Cabrini fellow at Xavier University.

Trevor was a student ambassador and a football captain. Through connections made as part of our Career Initiatives internship program, Trevor will begin his career as an Electrician.
