Watching our students walk across that stage was one of those moments that stays with you.
Every student arrived at graduation having traveled their own path. Different goals, different timelines, different definitions of what getting there looked like. And yet there they were.
What struck us the most was that the staff and the school experienced it right alongside them.
This was not just a student milestone. It was a shared one. The people who showed up every day, who knew each student's name and their story and what they were working toward, got to see it all come together too.
That is what AIA's pathways are really about. Not a question of whether a student will get there, but a commitment to figuring out how. And this graduation ceremony is what that commitment looks like.
Congratulations to our graduates. We are so proud of each of you!

Two Pinellas museums worth knowing about this summer. 😎☀️
Great Explorations Children's Museum in St. Pete holds sensory-friendly hours with lower lights, quieter sound, smaller crowds, and sensory tools on site.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a KultureCity certified venue. You can download a social story before you visit, borrow a free sensory bag at the door, and use quiet zones throughout. Staff are trained to support guests with sensory needs.
Both are spaces where families have told us they actually felt welcome.

At AIA, the people who show up for our students every day are the heart of everything we do. We took a moment to honor and celebrate a few of them.
Ms. Tatiana received the True Shark Award, given to someone who embodies our mission and goes above and beyond for students in every sense of the word. Ms. Jacki received the Dawn Richmond Award, named after a beloved former colleague and given to someone who lives the mission with humility, positivity, and genuine heart. Coach Beth, who brings energy, encouragement, and a whole lot of heart to our PE program every single day, was named Employee of the Year. She has a gift for meeting students where they are and helping them discover what their bodies can do, and our community is better for it.
We also said a meaningful goodbye to Ms. Salvatore, who received the Legacy Shark Award at graduation before leaving AIA to be with her family. Some people walk into a school and leave it permanently better. The students she worked with carry her investment in them, and that does not go away. We are so grateful for everything she gave to the young people of AIA.
To our entire team: thank you! This community exists and continues to grow into a family because of you.

This is what learning can look like!
These are real skills, and they develop most naturally in moments where students are not thinking about developing them at all, and that is the point at AIA. We create space for this kind of play and learning because we know what it builds, and because we believe that a child who is laughing with a friend is a child who feels like they belong.
Through play, students practice turn taking, fine-motor skills, tolerating uncertainty, and allowing others emotions to share space with their own.

🎓️ This year, Autism Inspired Academy made history.
We celebrated our very first graduating class, and there are no words that fully capture what that means for this school, for these families, and for every student who helped us get here.
Our Head of School, Ms. Harris, addressed the graduates with words that said it best. She spoke about small steps leading to big wins, about paths that look different and matter equally, and about AIA being a family and a home that does not close its doors. Her message to every graduate was simple and true: we will always be here for you, a day from now, a year from now, and beyond.
Some of this year's graduates are stepping into employment, others are pursuing certifications, and some are continuing their journey with our transition program. Every path forward is a victory, and we are proud of each one of them.
To our first graduating class: you are not just graduates. You are proof of what is possible. We cannot wait to see where your steps take you next! 🚀

School may be out for summer, but we want families who are just learning about AIA to get a clear picture of what we do and why we exist.
Autism Inspired Academy is a private K-12 school in Pinellas County designed specifically for autistic students. We do not separate support from learning. Behavioral guidance, social skill development, and academic instruction are all woven together throughout the school day.
Every student has an individualized plan, and that plan grows with them. If you have been wondering whether AIA might be the right fit for your child, we would love to connect. You can reach us at autisminspired.org or email [email protected].

Every student at Autism Inspired Academy has a voice.
The tools look different from student to student, and that is exactly the point. Communication here is not one-size-fits-all. Some students speak, some use devices, some use a combination of both. What stays consistent is our commitment to making sure every student has a way to express themselves, connect with others, and access their education fully.
Most importantly, it isn't an exception at Autism Inspired Academy. It's an expectation.
