๐โ๏ธ Skyview is headed to the global stage! โ๏ธ๐
Itโs almost time for our very own Athletics Secretary and Directed Study Center Facilitator, Ms. Cessna, along with 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher, Ms. Kelly, to travel to Orlando and represent Skyview at the prestigious Jostens Renaissance Global Conference.
During the conference, Ms. Cessna will present a breakout session titled โFrom Zero to Hero,โ sharing Skyviewโs remarkable journey from being new to the Jostens Renaissance framework to earning recognition as a Platinum School of Distinction in just one year. Her presentation will highlight the strategies, programs, student leadership initiatives, and culture-building efforts that helped transform the Skyview experience for students and staff alike.
Adding to the celebration, Skyview will be recognized as a Platinum School of Distinction for the third consecutive year! ๐๐
The Platinum School of Distinction designation is the one of the highest level of recognition within the Jostens Renaissance program. Schools earning this honor demonstrate exceptional commitment to creating a positive school culture, improving academic achievement, recognizing students and staff, increasing engagement, and building meaningful connections throughout their school community. Only a handful of schools nationwide achieve this prestigious distinction, making it a truly outstanding accomplishment.
This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, staff, families, and community partners who continue to make Skyview a place where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.
Please join us in congratulating the entire Skyview community on this incredible achievement!
๐ Three Years. Three Platinum Awards. One Amazing School.

Itโs amazing when your fellow D49 POWER Zone school, Vista Ridge High School get represented like this. CONGRATS Jacob Bourland. Way to represent!!
School District 49
Congratulations to National Student of the Month, Jacob Bourland from Vista Ridge High School in Colorado! โจ
His nominator wrote: "He represents the rare intersection of academic rigor, athletic discipline, and an unparalleled gift for community building. His influence on our school culture this year has been nothing short of transformative, moving the needle on student engagement through his roles in Student Council, athletics, and the performing arts. The most visible evidence of Jacobโs impact is found at our quarterly pep rallies. Since taking the microphone, he has effectively revitalized these events, leading to a 150% increase in student engagement and morale. He possesses a natural charisma that captivates the entire student body, turning routine assemblies into high-energy celebrations of our school identity. Jacob leads by example across diverse platforms. In Student Council, he serves as a strategic voice for the student body, helping plan and execute initiatives that improve our daily campus life. As a leader on the football team, he demonstrated the grit and teamwork necessary to inspire his peers during the high-pressure fall season. Lastly, as a key member of the Show Choir, he balances the technical demands of performance with the same passion he brings to the field"

!! Itโs been called.
Have a safe and chilly snow day tomorrow! See yawl Thursday.
D49 Weather Alert: D49 will Close Wednesday, May 6
A rapid shift from spring back to winter will bring an extended blast of cold weather and precipitation into north and eastern El Paso County beginning Tuesday evening. National Weather Service and local meteorologists forecast this system will extend through Wednesday dropping both temperatures, and four to seven inches of snow on much of our area. The most intense pulse of cold and snow will persist through both morning and afternoon commutes, creating hazardous travel conditions for both drivers and walkers. Accordingly, D49 will close, Wednesday, May 6.
This status means BASE 49 will not operate, which is why we are notifying families early to allow time to make necessary adjustments to their schedule. This is our fourth called snow day out of our planned budget of five for the 25-26 school year.
As always, our first priority is the safety of students and staff all over the district. Because our bus and personal transportation routes support many students and staff who travel across zones, we make our weather call decision by evaluating overall conditions that might put any district students or staff at risk.
We thank you for your trust and understanding. Stay warm and safe Wednesday!
