Back pain is one of those things that gets blamed on everything.
Weak core. Tight hips. Poor flexibility. Bad posture.
And while those things can play a role, what I see most often is people spending months chasing stretches, exercises, and quick fixes without ever looking at how they’re actually moving.
Your body will always find a way to get the job done. But if the same movement pattern keeps overloading the same tissues, eventually your body starts sending warning signs.
That’s why getting out of pain often takes more than just strengthening or stretching. Sometimes it means improving movement patterns, managing training load better, and teaching the body a different strategy.
This is especially true in gymnastics. If a back handspring, tumbling pass, or skill keeps stressing the same area, the pain may keep coming back unless something changes about the way it’s being performed.
If you’ve been dealing with low back pain (or know a gymnast who has), comment HELP and I’ll send you information about my low back, core, and pelvic floor program. 💗
And if you’ll be at Region 4/5 Congress this weekend, come see me Saturday morning at 8:30 AM…I’d love to meet you! 😊
Your back does NOT HAVE TO HURT!!!

Everyone says they want big goals….But your habits will always tell the truth!
You don’t become a better athlete by talking about it.
You get better by doing the boring stuff….taking care of your body early, choosing sleep over scrolling, eating like performance matters, speaking up when something hurts, and by being coachable, consistent, and intentional.
If your actions don’t match your goals…Either the goal needs to change or the habits!
Which will you be this summer? A doer or a talker?

As someone who loves working with female athletes (and a mom of a little girl)… this statistic is hard to ignore!
Not because girls are incapable or because they’re weak. But because so many girls who once loved their sport slowly stop feeling like they belong in it.
I see it all the time … talented, driven girls becoming quieter, more hesitant, more self-conscious, and less confident in themselves as they get older. And so often, it has nothing to do with ability.
The good news? Supportive environments change everything.
When girls feel strong, encouraged, capable, and safe being imperfect, they stay in sports longer … and they carry that confidence far beyond the gym.
We have to do better at keeping girls in the game. Share if you agree!

Want to do college gymnastics? (Or really any sport at a super high level?!)
You don’t need to live in the gym…but you DO need to train with intention.
Work ethic matters! but so does how you recover, how you think, and how you care for your body.
Because the goal isn’t just to make it to college gymnastics… it’s to stay healthy enough perform and to love it while you’re there.
