Let's play feeling charades!! Write different emotions on a small piece of paper and have your child take turns acting out the emotion while you and the family guess what it is.

Here's a fun math activity to go with dinner! Let your child help set the table and ask them to grab three forks, four spoons, five napkins, six cups etc. If they bring the wrong amount, that is okay, take a pause and count it out with them.

Helping children manage big feelings is an important part of their development!

Math is EVERYWHERE and your kids are already doing it! Try out these fun math activities:

🔢Create visual numbers – Gather items and have your child call out a number and use the items to form the number.

🧱Pick a number and use Legos or blocks to build a city that stacks as high as the corresponding number.

🎮Counting toys around the house

🔺Point and discuss shapes in everyday life like the tires on the car, the shape of letters in the mail, and signs on the road. Count how many shapes you see

👣Go for a walk or drive and count how many red cars, street lights, dogs, cats, or any objects you may see, then add how many you saw total at the end

Summer is here but the learning continues! Take 15 to 30 minutes today to read your child's favorite book aloud. Ask them questions, talk about how the story makes them feel, create a "reading corner/space" and make this a daily habit. If you have a little baby, you can still read and talk to them as well! Reading helps our kiddos brain development, vocabulary expansion, and emotional development.

Our Community Baby Shower was a beautiful day of support, education, and connection for expectant and new mothers throughout our community. 💕 Over 150 families had the opportunity to connect with local organizations and healthcare providers while receiving important resources focused on maternal health, infant wellness, mental health, nutrition, housing support, transportation assistance, breastfeeding education, WIC services, and safe sleep practices.

Health screenings were completed for all expectant and new mothers in attendance, helping families access preventative care and community-based support services that promote healthy pregnancies, safe deliveries, and positive outcomes for both mother and baby.

Families also received food, diaper bags, and essential baby items to help ease financial burdens and ensure they had the supplies needed to care for their little ones safely and confidently.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible community partners and vendors who helped make this event possible and to every family who joined us! Together, we are helping enrich the lives of children and families across our community. 💙

Sixty-one years ago, Head Start started as an 8-week summer program. Eight weeks. The idea was modest by design, a way to see if reaching kids early could make a difference.

It made a difference.

What grew from those first summers is now one of the longest-running early childhood programs in American history, serving families in cities, rural towns, tribal communities, and migrant farmworker camps alike. Forty million children and counting.

Today we mark 61 years — not just with pride, but with real gratitude for the teachers, family advocates, nurses, and parents who do this work every single day.
