Wellington juniors recently returned from a WISE trip to Poland. In this blog, upper school English teacher Chris Robbins P ’17 ’22 reflects on her first visit to Auschwitz and Auschwitz-Birkenau in 2023. Drawing on a decade of teaching Stories of the Holocaust, she explores what it means to bear witness to history and why remembrance remains an essential act of responsibility.

This year, Wellington bids farewell to five extraordinary educators whose combined service spans more than a century: Marianne Crowley, Steve Winslow, CJ Dison P ’21, Emily Szabo, and Debra Parkes.
Each has shaped the school in distinct ways, but all share a deep commitment to students, colleagues, and the pursuit of meaningful learning. We are grateful for their contributions and wish them all the best in retirement!

On May 9, we said goodbye to our first home.
The original 1918 building on Fishinger Road has been Wellington's Fishinger Road address since our founders purchased it in 1981. Alumni, founders, former faculty, trustees, and donors gathered to honor what happened inside those walls — and to break ground on what comes next.
Former Head of School David Blanchard, founders Jeff Wilkins and Jack Ruscilli, and early faculty members Darrel Ivy, Mary Potter, Jill Webb, and Chris Robbins shared stories that reminded us: it was never just a building. It was where something remarkable began.
The 1918 building may come down this summer. But the people who filled it — and everything they built together - aren't going anywhere.
