☀️💦 Summer weather = water play! 💦☀️

The infants in the Koala Room have been soaking up the sunshine and exploring water in all kinds of exciting ways! From splashing in the sprinkler to investigating floating materials in the water table, these little learners were engaged in rich sensory experiences that support early development.

Water play encourages children to explore cause and effect, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, and build confidence as they discover how water moves, splashes, pours, and sprays. Most importantly, it's a joyful way to stay cool while learning through play!

🚧🔨 The Rainbow Room has officially entered the construction business!

This dramatic play setup gave children the chance to become builders, engineers, and problem-solvers as they explored tools, construction materials, and worksite safety. From measuring and building to pretending to repair and create, the children practiced teamwork, communication, creativity, and fine motor skills all through play!

We love seeing classroom spaces transformed into immersive learning experiences where imaginations can get to work! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️🦺

After 11 incredible years at NBCC, our sweet Patti is retiring! 💛

Earlier this week, we celebrated Patti and the immeasurable impact she has had on our community. Families, former students, coworkers, and friends stopped by to share hugs, stories, flowers, gifts, and heartfelt cards. Seeing so many children and families return to celebrate Patti was such a beautiful reminder of how deeply loved and valued she is.

Patti, thank you for the care, kindness, and joy you brought to NBCC over the years. Your impact will continue to live on in the hearts of the children and families you’ve touched. We wish you so much happiness in your retirement — you will always be part of the NBCC family!

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating the incredible teachers who make North Broadway Children’s Center such a special place each and every day. 💛

Throughout Teacher Appreciation Week, we showered our staff with treats, gifts, and lots of love:
• Monday — snacks and drinks
• Tuesday — Travelin' Tom's Coffee coffee truck and plants
• Wednesday — lunch catered by Roosters
• Thursday — breakfast catered by Freedom a la Cart
• Friday — tote bags filled with fun gifts and surprises

One of the most meaningful parts of the week was our card station and community canvas, where children and families shared sweet notes, drawings, and messages for our teachers. The love and appreciation shown throughout the week was truly overwhelming.

To our teachers: thank you for the care, patience, creativity, and heart you pour into your classrooms every single day. We appreciate you more than words can say. 💖

Children’s artwork is about so much more than the finished product — it’s about creativity, problem solving, storytelling, and self-expression. 🎨

Sometimes, the way we talk about art can encourage even deeper thinking. Instead of asking, “What is it?” try using open-ended questions like:

• “Can you tell me about your drawing?”
• “What was your favorite part to make?”
• “I notice you used lots of colors here!”
• “How did you decide to create this?”
• “What’s happening in your picture?”

Open-ended language gives children space to share their ideas in their own way, build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and feel proud of their creative process. There’s no “right answer” — just imagination at work! 💛

Leo the tortoise made a special visit to our part-time preschool program, and our kiddos were absolutely fascinated! 🐢💚

The children loved watching Leo munch on lettuce, explore his surroundings, and show off his slow-and-steady personality. Along the way, they asked thoughtful questions, shared observations, and learned all about tortoises through hands-on exploration and curiosity-driven learning.

Experiences like this help bring learning to life and encourage children to wonder, investigate, and connect with the world around them! 🌿✨
