Each year, the James E. Hamill Memorial Award honors someone who carries forward the vision, heart, and legacy of FACS founder Dr. James E. Hamill—a leader who believed that if our name includes “Christian,” it must be the best.
This year’s recipient embodies that calling every day.
A proud FACS graduate, Carrie McDaniel is known for her servant leadership, unwavering commitment to students, and dedication to her colleagues. Whether tutoring struggling learners, mentoring young teachers, leading professional development, encouraging parents, or offering biblical wisdom and prayer, Carrie consistently goes above and beyond.
With deep roots at FACS spanning three generations, her impact on our school community is both meaningful and lasting.
Congratulations to Carrie McDaniel, recipient of the 2025 James E. Hamill Memorial Award! 💚💛💚💛

For 20 years, Mrs. Lori Cook has inspired creativity in the hearts of FACS students as our Elementary Art Teacher. As both a former FACS parent and educator, she is passionate about helping our students discover the joy of creating and expressing themselves through art.
An accomplished Memphis artist, Lori has had her work displayed across the country and credits her love of art to her mother’s influence and a childhood filled with creativity.
This year, Mrs. Cook will expand her impact by extending her art instruction beyond elementary and into our secondary program, serving students from SrK–12th grade.
“Art is my God-given passion and journey, more beautiful and fulfilling shared than alone.”
We are grateful for the creativity, passion, and encouragement Mrs. Cook brings to our classrooms and look forward to seeing even more students grow through art under her leadership.
