Does reading homework often end in frustration?

You are not alone.

Many struggling readers are bright, capable children who simply need instruction that matches how they learn.

Summer provides a unique opportunity to strengthen reading skills, build confidence, and address challenges without the pressure of grades, homework, and testing.

The goal is not more pressure.

The goal is more confidence.

πŸ’¬ Send us a message and tell us about your child's biggest reading challenge.
πŸ“š Let us help you create a plan for success. Visit https://loom.ly/lJxRHeQ to get started.

Think training is tedious? Not with us.

This Richardson ISD cohort has combined rigor with a positive attitude.

Along the way, we celebrated three baby showers due in July and August and took a field trip to Scottish Rite Hospital Dyslexia Lab.

Congratulations, ladies. You are almost done with Summer 2!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we have the freedom to learn, grow, and support the next generation.

At Dyscoveread Dyslexia Services, we are grateful for that freedom, and we do not take it lightly. Every child we help is part of the future they fought to protect.

Today, we remember. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

When teaching or training in Take Flight, I always ask myself… (fill in the blank)

If you want one, come see us this summer at the literacy institute at Region 10 or come (in person) to one of our many trainings!

Reading struggles are not just about reading.
They are about how the brain processes language.

That is why some children:
β€’ Struggle to connect sounds to letters
β€’ Have trouble decoding new words
β€’ Get frustrated with spelling and writing

It is not a lack of effort. It is a difference in how their brain processes language.

And here is the part most people miss:
More reading practice alone will not fix it.

If the foundation is weak, the gap only grows.

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month, which makes it the perfect time to understand what is really going on and what actually helps.

Our latest blog breaks it down in a way every parent should read.

I had a trainee ask this just last week...
Not (k) (au) (l) (t), but (k) (short a) (l) (t) because it is an acronym, not a word. The (short a) is the sound found in academic!
