The June 06, 2026 Arts District Toastmasters Club meeting was full of and intrigue.

The Toastmaster of the Day Gabrielle Beasley started the meeting sharing the fact that her favorite season is summer. She state some summer activities that she looks forward to; however, she did not elaborate on some past summer adventures. She mentioned something similar to "I'll have to take those activities to the grave" which made the activities and potential stories even more interesting. 🤔

The Grammarian leo-shuxiong Wu selected the word of the day.
The word of the day was dignified. (Dignified means having or showing dignity, characterized by seriousness and a calm demeanor that deserves respect. It often describes a manner or style that is formal and graceful.) 🤨

The Table Topics Master Dale McKnight posed some provocative summer themed questions. Everyone was ready to answer the questions about summer.
🥵

In her first role holding meeting with the Arts District Toastmasters Club,
Lyn Fountain had two roles today. She was the Vote Counter and Ah Counter. Unrelatedly, Lyn also won the vote for better Table Topics answer. 🥇

As for speakers, in her speech, "You Don't Get Paid for This?!" - Lametra Off, MS, PCC spoke about her leadership experience as an Area Director. The experience is real. Some state Area Directors 'should' get paid. David Guinan the Speech Evaluator remembered the days of his Area Director term fondly and remarked the benefits (connections made, friends found, lessons learned) outweigh the unpaid classification. 📣

And there was a club election. The Arts District Toastmasters Dallas Texas elected officers for the next District 50 Toastmasters "Toastmasters" year - 2026 - 2027. Janet Adams

Mike Brown has been fired four times.

Twice by the same organization.

Most people would have quit after the first setback.
Instead, he kept showing up. He kept coaching. He kept believing in his ability even when others questioned it.

Today, he's an NBA Champion.

Success isn't always about talent.

Sometimes it's about staying in the game long enough for your season to change.

For anyone facing rejection, layoffs, closed doors, or unexpected detours: your current situation is not your final destination.

Keep going.
Your speaking story isn't over yet.

✅ Persistence pays.
✅ Resilience matters.
✅ Your breakthrough may be closer than you think.

Fun Fact:
Memorial Day and Veterans Day are different observances.

It is common to confuse these two military holidays, but they serve distinct purposes:

Memorial Day is strictly for honoring those who died while in military service.

Veterans Day (observed on November 11) celebrates and thanks all U.S. military veterans, living and deceased, for their service.

Happy Memorial Day from the Arts District Toastmasters Dallas Texas to you and yours.
