Each year at graduation, we recognize some of our outstanding students with awards.

🏆 The Beckett Award: Named after our founders Jim and Jane Beckett, this award is presented to graduates who exemplify the vision for CCA.

This year‘s Beckett Award recipients were Nakiya and Benoit. Both graduates displayed a strong interest and commitment to learning and excelled in their academic pursuits.

🏆 The Overcomer Award: this absolutely named award is presented to students who prevailed in the face of difficulties, overcoming adversity, exhibiting growth, and inspiring others.

Melinda, McKayla, and Jacque received the 2026 Overcomer Awards. We witnessed each young woman’s persistence in perseverance, as they completed their education and care for their children.

🏆 The Warrior Award: The Warrior Award is presented to students who exemplify the character qualities we value at CCA: action oriented, committed, dependable, humble, organized, positive, thankful, truth seeker, and warrior.

Sharon and Samaj were this year‘s Warrior Award recipients. Throughout this school year, we saw them both show up as Warriors, fighting to flourish and encouraging others along the way.

Meet Semaj, CCA’s 2026 Class Valedictorian! 🎓🎉

He was referred to CCA by and was excited to complete high school. Shy and quiet, Semaj found several opportunities to come out of his shell and learn new skills.

Throughout this school year, Semaj participated in our podcasting class with and won the class pitch competition with Coach . He credits these experiences with helping him become more confident and comfortable with public speaking. Semaj also participated in the Yearbook Class, developing the website for his class’ highlights.

After high school, Semaj plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas to study design and pursue a career in video game design and development.

Today we completed the Data Capacity Building Initiative with and .innovation! 🎉

As members of the DCBI Cohort 3, we gained incredible insights and learned alongside other amazing leaders doing much-needed work across North Texas. We closed out this 6-month program with capstone presentations from each organization.

Thank you, Destiny, Sarah, Lance, and Jennifer, for making this such a meaningful experience for us! We look forward to better utilizing data, which will in turn, help us better serve our students and families.

Thanks to and friends, we had our very first CCA prom this year! 🤩 The venue was beautifully decorated, the food was delicious, and we had fun dancing!

Shawana, we are so grateful for you and how diligently you worked to make this a special occasion for our students.
