Once a Waldorf kid, always a Waldorf kid 🍄 we had a pleasant surprise yesterday morning when four DWS alumni stopped by campus on their last day of high school to reflect on their time here…yes you read that right: high school! Bonds deeply rooted create the foundation for standing strong, whichever way the winds blow. We see these young adults carry a Waldorf education’s values of resilience, relationship, and reverence into their futures. These alumni are attending SDSU, the United States Naval Academy (on a rowing scholarship!), and San Diego Mesa College.

Through the laughter and the tears, the 2025-2026 school year has come to a close. We are so proud of the Class of 2026 as they step boldly into the next chapter of their education, and we know that this goodbye is really just a “see you later” :) we wish everyone a summer of joy, of play, and plenty of rest in between ☀️

Scenes from the last week of school 🌼 not pictured: 8th graders sobbing as they visit each class and receive flowers that will create a bouquet of memories. The last day of school is a beautiful experience, with all the messy emotions included. Children and teachers are busy cleaning as they prepare to move classrooms, and 8th graders are held in loving care as they say goodbye to a school whose roots run deep within them.

The whole to the parts 🐏 in third grade, students spend three weeks delving into fibers. Where do these materials come from? How are fibers used and transformed into practical applications? The students began at a sheep farm and eventuallt learn to card, spin, and weave wool (using their own handmade spindles). This type of intentional and manual work helps students build their will and their patience. A valuable lesson in the world of same-day Amazon deliveries 📦. Pictured are felted wool landscapes made by third graders!
