Congratulations to the class of 2026! 🎉
We had a blast celebrating our graduates yesterday alongside their friends, family, and loved ones.
We can't wait to see what's next for our new alumni as they go out into the world to be transformative teachers, researchers, and educational leaders.
Come along with Kat, director of the UC Davis Lotus Mana Center and CANDEL Ed.D. student, on a few days in her life!
Many CANDEL students write their dissertation on a topic that ties directly into their work as educational leaders; Kat's research looks at how Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs) contribute to institutional transformation and student success at large public research universities. That means the research she's done as a doctoral student gets to have a direct impact on her work here at UC Davis!
Video description: Kat takes us on a few days in her life doing outreach, meeting with her dissertation chair, working at the Lotus Mana Center, attending a gala at the Conference of Asian American Professionals, and participating in the annual Thank Goodness For Staff event on campus.

Prof. Marcela Cuellar received a $475,000 grant that will build on her work in higher education equity and Latinx student success. The grant, from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, is for the study “Mobilizing Opportunity: Examining How Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) Advance Social Mobility for Historically Underserved Students.” Her research will explore the role HSIs play in supporting students and shaping equitable economic mobility.
Congratulations, Dr. Cuellar!
