Freshman Orientation can feel like information overload.

Class schedules. Advising. Campus resources. Student organizations. Parking. Buses. Buildings. Important dates.

It is a lot to take in, and that is completely normal.

The good news is that you do not need to have everything figured out on day one. Orientation is just the beginning of your journey. Throughout your time at UNT Engineering, you will have faculty, staff and fellow students ready to help you navigate every step along the way.

Bring your curiosity. Bring your questions. Bring the good vibes.

We’ll help with the rest.

UNT, other schools to offer bachelor degrees in AI 06/05/2026

As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries across Texas and around the world, the need for a workforce equipped with AI expertise continues to grow.

In a recent Spectrum News 1 Texas feature, Dr. Lotfi ben Othmane, clinical professor in the UNT Computer Science and Engineering, discussed our new Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and the growing demand from both industry and students for AI-focused education. Launching this fall, the program will provide students with a strong foundation in computing, software engineering and machine learning while preparing them for careers in one of the fastest-growing technology sectors.

According to the Texas-based think tank 2036, AI-related jobs are expected to increase by 27% over the next decade. UNT is helping prepare the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers and technology leaders to meet that demand.

You might think a quieter summer campus means fewer eyes around, but UNT Police are always on the job.

Keeping campus safe 24/7, so “life with UNT PD” means bad ideas getting shut down before they even start.

Clocking out for summer like... ✌️🦅

Congratulations to all our students on finishing another semester at the UNT College of Engineering! See you in the fall!

What begins with curiosity can lead to discoveries that shape entire industries. That mindset continues to drive the work of Dr. Jincheng Du, chair of the UNT Department of Materials Science and Engineering, whose research and leadership have now earned election as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

From advancing materials used in energy storage and biomedical applications to addressing challenges in nuclear waste management, Dr. Du’s work reflects the kind of innovation happening every day within UNT Engineering. Just as impactful is his commitment to mentoring the next generation of researchers, scientists and engineers.

We are proud to celebrate this recognition and the continued impact of UNT Materials Science and Engineering on research, education and innovation.
